Brandon Gormley to Edmonton

Edmonton would get a defenceman nearly NHL ready who could most likely step right into the NHL and become an integral part of their defence. Very similar to Ryan Murray, what would it take to get him? I know Phoenix is loaded with quality defensive prospects.

I always liked the idea of Edmonton snatching up some of Phoenix's D prospects, and I think Gormley could be really good. Something around MPS would be a good idea. Maybe Gagner?

I like Gormely, a deal involving MPS would interest me

If I am pheonix, we have zero reason to move him. Team is doing fine, and he has done nothing but improved in his development.

I would ask EDM to overpay, idk what that would be for PHX tho.

No. I'd hang onto Gormley unless he's used in a package to get a player like Staal. Otherwise I'd rather just sit back and let the d prospects develop into what they become and then deal one if we end up having a log jam.

I don't see PHX taking MPS as a center piece in a trade for Gormley. As sad as it is playing in the NHL has hurt MPS's value. After his poor season people will question if he can be an NHL top 6 forward. And MPS really doesn't fit as a bottom 6 forward. If MPS had spent the last 2 seasons in the AHL improving his game and playing at a high level his value would be higher then it currently is.

EDM needs to hang on to MPS and hope he rebounds as he currently has pretty low trade value.

Gormely playing at all be it a lower level played well and has at least kept his value constant at worst or even improved his value since being drafted while MPS's value has dropped significantly since being drafted.

If MPS + 2d were the offer and the Blues didn't easily beat it I'd be pissed at Armstrong.

I wonder if MPS + Hemsky for Gormley + 2nd (maybe a first since the Coyotes will have a late pick this year) would work for both sides?

Gagner being the centrepiece for Edmonton in a trade for a young D stud......I've seen this story before.....it doesn't end well.

I can't think of a prospect in the world whose value has dropped more this year than MPS.

lol to the guy who said MPS straight up for Gormley.

His (Gormley's) initial ranking was fairly high, and the Yotes got a steal. I doubt they deal him at this point, let alone for a struggling player like MPS.

Oh yeah, I remember everyone was shocked when both Gormley and Fowler dropped significantly. They were ranked 2 and 3 most of that year. I think Gormley's downfall was that he wasn't amazing at any one thing, but rather really good at everything. He's been developing just as he should. A lot of teams will be, and already are kicking themselves for passing on those 2.

the way you describe Gormley is Murray this year.

I can't see PHX wanting to move him.

I'm sure Edmonton could offer more than Paajarvi, I still see a lot of potential in Paajarvi and I don't even have the homer goggles on today, he just needs to toughen up, too bad Dallas signed Gary Roberts for his conditioning program.

Gormley is a player whose value was high, and is rising. MPS is a player whose value was pretty high, but is dropping like a stone. No way MPS for Gormley happens unless EDM adds something significant (significant in terms of value, not volume).

Yeah. No knocks on Gormley or Fowler. Just teams preferred other players.

That's how I see it. That's not to say I've completely written MPS off, but he's not as enticing as he once was. A team may still see something and take a chance on him, but that's a risk - one which would cost Gormley in this case.

He wouldn't be at the top of the list, but I think St. Louis would be interested in Gormley.

I'm not too familiar with Phoenix, what sort of return would they be looking for if they moved him? (I understand he isn't being shopped, but curious as to what needs, if any, Phoenix is looking to address in the off-season.)

A scoring forward. Center would be preferable, but a winger would also work.

So on that note, Gormley + for Yakupov?
