I think you're misremembering, so to speak. The hit on Primeau was barely a hit - Perezhogin didn't even see him and they just collided awkwardly. At least that's how I remember it.
That was a nice goal by Emelin. Not surprised it was on the PP - he's pretty good out there, too bad Campoli outplayed him for that spot on the Canadiens

I get the 'holding the stick' under the arm trick and a few sells but that was just stupid. If Marchand did it we'd be complaining. Emelin is 6'3 223 and physical. It's pretty embarrassing for a guy that big to be falling like that.

He is one of the big reasons Russia blew them out, by getting into their heads like that.
hahaha. I hate diving with a passion, but it happens. So if you're gonna do it, might as well go all out and really piss the other guys off. I know I would have lost my head if I was Franzen.
Franzen tried a nut shot but yea no excuse on that dive. Even Subban doesn't go that hardcore. Emelin is a bigger troll, but doesn't have a good troll face like PK. I wouldn't be surprised if next season Emelin becomes more hated than Subban. I wonder what would happen if we pair Emelin-Subban for an extended period of time.
there's a fine line btw embellishment and "diving"... emelin certainly crossed it, but Franzen's actions prior to were just as unsportsmanlike.
I think people make too big a deal of it overall. Embellishment is a fundamental part of any contact sport, and every player engages in it to a certain degree.
if anything, blatant acts like that one by Emelin, while useful in the short term (if/when they lead to PP's), can be problematic long term b/c ref's don't like being made fools of, and they remember.
