Count me in. Klein is very under rated. I think we could possibly get him for a good offensive prospect like Stone, Puempel or Noesen. Maybe Foligno and a lesser prospect? I do want an established NHL d-man added to the roster. At 27 years of age Klein would be perfect.

The pool gets interesting only if you start to include Zibanejad and Stone.

IF management thinks Stone could play; I could see a nice return for Michalek. By example, would a Michalek, our 1st and something (Butler type) get us Van Reimsdyk and Braydon Coburn or a Bobby Ryan
but alfie is not a long term plan and 9MM can be it just doesn't make sense even with stone and silfverberg in.

There could only be a couple of forward positions if any available next season, especially if Foligno & JOB are re-signed which I expect. Konopka & Daugavins might be SOL. Klinkhammer I assume may get offered a two-way contract & Butler could get traded, waived or bought out & Alfie could retire . May not be room for Stone or Zibanejad though for the start of the yr anyway.

Signed for next season:
Silfverberg - Spezza - Michalek
Greening - Turris - Alfredsson
Condra - Regin - Butler
Z, Smith - Neil

Still to be signed: Foligno, Konopka, JOB, Daugavins

Signed for next season:
Cowen - Karlsson
Phillips - Gonchar

Still to be signed: Kuba, Gilroy & Carkner

Signed: Anderson - Bishop

the big problem is Condra is just aweful at LW he needs to not be there ever again.

i'd prefer to see something more like this for the forwards

Top 6 that can be moved around

silfverberg - Spezza - 9MM
Regin - Turris - Alfie

Bottom 6 that can be moved around

Greening - JOB - Condra
Foligno - Smith - Neil

Butler Konopka? Stone? Winchester?

Parise/Nash/Ryan/Parenteau will be on the Sens next year.

Our centers are becoming solidified and through UFA and drafting(Especially this year) we can patch up the defense for the future(We already got Karlsson and Cowen who will be our top D anchors, those are the hard ones to find) We also have established depth on goaltending so all we need is strength on the wing positions and we have the prospects and depth to make a move for a young/relatively young star winger.

It'll happen.

Just a small nitpick, but Karlsson isn't signed yet.

Leaf fan was saying Greening for Gunnarsson and/or JOB for Franson.

I would do both

JOB for Franson? Hell yes. You make that deal 11 times out of 10. He's got a lot of upside.

Put me down in the Jason Garrison camp. As long as it's not overpayment, that would be quite the upgrade over Kuba. The style he plays would be a great fit in Ottawa and he's pretty young too.

Has Alfredsson agreed to come back yet?

Silfverberg isn't a top-6 NHL yet and certainly no where near proven enough to make anybody else expendable.

Turris is barely any more proven than that. He just put 29 points and was a 39 point pace over his last 40 games while riding shotgun with Alfie the whole time. Is he going to be able to carry a line with Silfverberg and Stone on it?.... Uh, no! That would probably be the worst line in the NHL.

We can barely ice a top-6 for next season... how the heck are the few guys who have ever proven anything in their lives trade bait?

Do we want to try to break our club record for fewest goals scored in a season?

I don't get how more people don't understand this. I can do nothing but laugh every time my Leaf fan friends go on about how Ottawa needs to trade Spezza 'cause we'll never win anything with him, and then proceed to say how he'd be a great fit in Toronto.

The chances of Ottawa-Toronto making any sort of trade is basically zero.

Rhodes came here from Toronto.

Never will a Spezza type trade be made but small time trades to improve depth could be made. Why not? If one team had 13 forwards the other 7 Defencemen why would they not trade depth for depth?

It's because the idea was so cray, he couldn't find any input for number 2, let alone 3.

Toronto and Ottawa have made 3 trades in modern day Senators history:

July 20/92: Sens acquire D Brad Marsh from Toronto for future considerations.

Feb 25/93: Sens acquire a 1993 9th round pick (used to pick Pavol Demitra!!) from Toronto for D Brad Miller.

Mar 17/98: Sens acquire D Per Gustafsson from Toronto for a 1998 8th round draft choice (D Dwight Wolfe).

To support the post above - the Sens and Leafs have NOT made a trade since the Leafs and Senators became Northeast division rivals in the 1998-99 season, so the odds are surely against it happening. That being said - division rivals Toronto and Boston seem to make deals every other week...and we all saw the famous Murray-Burke clip where Murray tried to move up in the 2009 NHL draft.

Many in Toronto want the Leafs to have a Ontario born star now Spezza would fit that this also could be a deal that might be a win win for Burke he gets Jason and gives up Kessel/Lupul he would be seen as a hero.

I wonder if a team like Carolina would consider Foligno + the 15th pick for the 8th pick? Then we could draft a guy like Trouba, Dumba or Ceci...

So in 2-3 years we may have a top 4 dman??

Would rather deal 15 plus mid level prospect(s) if I was looking to move up

We should trade our 1st + an alright prospect for a solid 2/3 defenseman who is under control.

Mark Giordasno would be my target

What about James Wisniewski from CLB? We would need a defensive d-man to Jack Johnson. Is interest and if yes what you would offer (serriously, not jokes)?
