If the trade was actually an option(price for Pavs and a Toss in) I would entertain it. I'm pretty sure that most of the fan base is happy with pavelec, as is the management. I would only toss in a pick(prolly 2) or a prospect.
I'm confident that once the Jets become defensively more responsible and start eliminating the scoring chances, his numbers will sky rocket.
However, that hasnt happened yet, and Price is more of a proven goalie...I'm sure his "price" will be higher.
But given my confidence in Pavelec, I wouldn't go higher then the pick or prospect.
Fan of neither team coming in and saying Price is the better and more valuable goalie, but Pavelec is severely underrated around these parts and the difference is not as much as many Montreal fans would like to admit. The difference is not even remotely close to the OP offer.
Price is obviously > Pavi but the difference on the rest in the OP is extreme.
TN has already said they intend to improve via the draft but that proposal has us downgrading our forwards & defense for an upgrade in goal where Pavi has proven worthy. He's also only 24 & few goalies hit their prime until 26-28. As the team in front of him improves his #s will get better.
Pavi is doing his part so if the skaters can add to the scoring & play a good team D (as some Jets were) we get better.
There's also the point this 1st year was a test drive & TN now knows where the upgrades are needed. There won't be a block-buster. Rather small trades, some FAs not being re-signed, small UFA signings & some graduation from the minors & juniors.
*BTW, I'm a Winnipeg guy. I've been a Flyers fan since before the WHA existed to give Wpg. it's 1st big league team but I also follow the Jets very closely. *
