I'm pretty convinced he'll end up being an Islander. If that happens I really wouldn't be surprised to see him paired with Hamonic to start the year on the 2nd pairing. Streit and mystery UFA at the top.
Hamonic is the Isles best defender at this point, so I think playing with him could make the transition a lot easier for Murray. If Murray shows he belongs next year, I think they will quickly become NYI's top-pairing and stay there for a long, long time.
Unless EDM trades down to spot 2 or 3, or some other team jumps ahead of the Islanders, I just don't see Murray being picked before the 4 spot. The Isles passing on him there, IMO, is just as unlikely.
From my understanding, Murray chooses not to play an uptempo offensive game and would rather play a more defensively responsible game. He probably wants to prove he can play defense first. However, he could end up as the next Jay Bouwmeester....

JayBo's dumb as a door knob. Hockey sense and in general.
Not gonna be this kid's problem.
I could see something like a prime Wade Redden and just maybe a Ryan Suter.
There are some prospects that scouts fall in love with. Murray seems to be one of those guys.
To those who says well scouts know everything and they are paid to do this, well they also miss a lot of talented players. However, I do agree, they know more than us.
This World Championship will go against him, I think a lot of scouts will see that he's not really made for top 2 Defenceman material, where Dumba may be.
If he falls into the Draft, it will be because of the World Championship

I doubt playing in the WHC will make his draft stock drop. All it does is show that he's not ready to play against NHL calibre players yet.

See, that makes no sense to me whatsoever.
If Murray is not doing well against NHLers and that equals "Murray is not top 2 defenseman material", what does that say about Dumba who is not even on the roster?
