I wouldn't mind bringing Gormley to Ottawa. OTT and PHO now have a bit of trading history with the Turris deal (I do think that Rundblad will be a very good offensive D in the NHL). Obviously, as we are looking to add to our D, Cowen and Karlsson are not in consideration. Since the other Yotes fan said they want a scoring forward, preferably a center, what about something around Gormley+ for Zibanejad? (I don't want to trade Z, but like so many fans here don't understand, you have to give to get). I do think that PHO would have to add to Gormley to get Zibby though. OTT has decent center depth going forward even without Zibby, with Spezza/Turris/Smith as 1/2/3 centers, and Winchester, if healthy, could be resigned as our 4th line center. Foligno is a natural center as well.

Phx would not add in a trade for Zibanejad. I don't really understand how he has more value then Gormley. And I am a fan of neither team.
only way i see Gormley in edmonton is if Hall, Nugent Hopkins or Eberle are moving for him, maybe not straight up mind you but phoenix wont move him for a package of lesser pieces

gormley hasn't proven anything to be worthy of a package deal for any of those 3...
only way i see edmonton and phoenix trading is like i said paajarvi for gormley swap.

Gormley has the value of elite prospect. Not untouchably generational prospect, but he was voted best D at all of WJC for a reason. Just because Phoenix has a quality defensive logjam doesn't mean his value is less, it only means they might be open more to a trade to restock at forward.
To get Gormley, I'd give up Stewart, or I'd offer Rattie + Ottawa's 2d next year (mid 40s) + Anaheim's 3d this year (66th pick once Devils forfeit).
And MPS has the value of strongly possible bust at this point. Edmonton has hit on most of their high picks but they missed with that guy, and Oiler fans are in dreamland IMO if they think MPS for Gormley is even remotely in the value ballpark.
its not a dream, why would phoenix move him for a package of lesser players? they are a final 4 team. they would only move him as part of a package to get a better player.
its not like they have a bunch of holes to fill so they would be the ones wanting to offer multiple players for one. its the oilers whose roster needs multiple improvememts

Yes because he had one bad season as a 20 year old, god forbid.

As you say, he's been bad. Players who appear to be bad don't get you elite prospects in return. There are tons of teams who could and would beat that offer.
To give a point of reference for Gormley's value, here are the last eight defensemen voted best defenseman at the WJC:
Dion Phaneuf
Marc Staal
Erik Johnson
Drew Doughty
Erik Karlsson
Alex Pietrangelo
Ryan Ellis
Brandon Gormley
To give a point of reference for MPS value, here are some forwards who scored at the pace as MPS as an 18 year old in the Swedish Elite league:
Anze Kopitar
Sedin's
Zetterberg
we can play this game all day, the fact is neither Gormley or MPS has proven a thing except that they have some elite characteristics that might make them great players one day...
gormley is a great prospect but seriously, asking for eberle or hall to be involved.... really?
