Black Aces to be recalled from CT Whale

Anybody have news on who is getting recalled as a spare / black ace for the remaining cup run? (No wild speculations or wish lists please...)

Not sure if Torts wants to crowd the room with too many spares...

Any info is appreciated!

I imagine we find out today. As of now depth chart is

Hagelin, Richards, Gaborik
Kreider, Stepan, Callahan
Ansimov, Boyle, Fedotenko
Rupp, Mitchell, Prust
Scott, Dubinsky, Zuccarello ( hopefully Dubi and Zuke are healthy)

McDonaugh, Girardi
Staal, Stralman
Del Zotto, Bickel
Eminger, Woywitka

Lundqvist, Biron

Dont want too many up. Erixon for sure on D. Wellman and Newbury since they have some NHL experience. Is McIlrath even on an entry level yet? If so he may come along for the ride , same goes for Miller

I think the bigger question is.....who's place does Dubinsky take when he's healthy? And does Zuccarello even get a look? At the very least he can prob help the PP. The Devils are a team MZA might thrive against because they play a more wide open style.

true story. I imagine Dubi comes in for Mitchell. Torts seemed to trust Rupp more on game 7 and he will be needed for toughness.

I would keep the top 2 lines together then play Dubinsky, Boyle, Anismov............although Torts loves Prust and Feds. I would still have them on a 4 th line with Rupp then mix them in on the PK

Mitchell should be scratched when Dubi comes back. The only thing Mitchell can do is win faceoffs and that's something that Dubi can do as well. Feds played great last night and we may need Rupp's toughness against the Devils.

Zipay had something on this

Quote:
The Rangers' AHL team, the Connecticut Whale, was ousted from the playoffs with a 2-1 overtime loss to the Norfolk Admirals Friday night. If the Rangers reached the Eastern Conference Finals, some callups/prospects were expected as spares and for practice, including defenseman Tim Erixon, who played 18 games with the Blueshirts this season. Other possibilities: Forwards Casey Wellman, who played 41 games with the Wild over three seasons and Ryan Bourque, and goaltender Cam Talbot, who made 44 saves in Friday's loss.

The Rangers have an optional today at 2pm.

Would you call up Redden? Perhaps just to make the guy feel happy again if his name gets on the cup.

He'd actually have to play to have that happen.

Redden has no need to be called up. I'm sure his albatross contract is keeping him happy.

Redden finished the season in one piece. The Rangers buy him out as a compliance/amnesty buyout in September. The Rangers get him off the books and Redden can resume his career. Send Redden home. No reason to bring him here and he gets hurt in practice. Reds hasn't been in the plans for two years.

Erixon please. And Zuccarello needs a roster spot, especially if Dubi is gone for the playoffs.

He'd have to play 5 games this round or 1 in the finals to get his name on the cup. And the Rangers sure as hell wouldn't petition for his name to be on it.

Definitely Erixon.
I open to Scott on the 4th, no to Newbury.

No to Zuc.
If Dubi can't make it, I'd try a rookie.

No to Zuccarello? Why? He is our missing link on the PP and showed in the few chances he got that he adds great passing abilities to our team.

Zuccarello's already with the team--he's just injured. He gets to play if he gets healthy and a spot opens up. I'd expect Erixon for sure, Wellman, Deveaux, maybe Newbury, possibly Bell, Talbot. Might as well bring along Miller, Thomas, McIlrath, Yogan, JAM and Hrivik. They're not going to play but they can watch and it might encourage JAM and Hrivik to sign with us.

This has been dealt with a number of times: a player who has to pass through re-entry waivers cannot be re-called during the playoffs. Redden will have to watch the action from the stands.

Rangers don't own JAM or Hrivik so they can't call them up unless they sign them.

I believe calling up McIlrath, Yogan, Miller, and Thomas would all burn a year of their ELC's like it did with Kreider even before he had played a game.

Reasonable expectations say that only Erixon and possibly Newbury/Wellman will get the call. Torts doesn't like a crowded room and he still has Scott, Woywitka, and Eminger taking up space as extras.

Not talking about calling them up. I'm talking about having them around to watch things as they occur--kind of as a 'you know we're kind of interested in signing you' thing. Giving them an idea about how the big team operates and what NYC is about.
