The Official Round 3 (Conference Finals) Thread

The travel shall be light for both series... the Rangers and Devils don't even have to board a plane, and the Coyotes and Kings will have flights about as long as the bus ride for the East teams. I've done the Phoenix-Los Angeles flight... it's only 45 minutes.

Funny things that have been brought up:

The only trade deadline player that's still in the playoffs is John Scott on the Rangers. Everyone else on the Rangers and the other teams were with their respective teams all year.

The Rangers could win the Cup by beating the 8th seed (Ottawa), the 7th seed (Washington), the 6th seed (Devils) and the 8th seed (LA). On paper, the weakest path to the Cup possible.

Don't forget the Canadiens, who would have swept us in four and eventually won the Cup had Williams not decided to shish kebab Koivu's eye

Or the Oilers, who would have won if Roloson wasn't hurt.

Let's hope it's better than the second round. 3 of those series were awful, and Rangers/Caps was unwatchable at times too.

Thats because the Rangers were playing. They're heinously awful to watch.

Vermette wasn't traded right on the deadline but he was close enough that I'd consider him a deadline addition.

Same. Still pissed that Columbus turned down that trade. Then again I can't blame them with how ****** Kaberle had been for us.

On another note, I'm having an impossible time generating even an ounce of excitement for the East series, aside from epic NY/NJ fan-on hate. But I'm most decidedly *not* looking forward to the Devs/Rangers dry humping each other for 7 games.

I am looking forward to the West final, as I have no problem with low scoring games when great goaltending is the reason for it. [And having said that, Quick and Smith shall plummet back to Earth and become versions of Flower and Bryz.]

In which case we see the Pens-Flyers series, which was the best one of the playoffs. It's a win-win.

This is certainly true. It was an exciting series of hockey with those two in net.

Amazed that Phoenix has gotten as far as they have without Raffi Torres.

Shame Forslund won't get to call any of the Conference Finals. Of all the different commentators I've heard these playoffs, he was still the best. He certainly would've been better than the duo they have announcing the Kings/Coyotes series.

So is Dustin "Pancakes" Penner a different player in these playoffs for the Kings or what?

He's ridiculously good now. At least he's showing up exactly when it counts.

If we sign Penner Im calling him Pennercakes. He has not lived up to the lazy stereotype these playoffs.
