Ok, now I've heard it all. The Devils beat the Flyers so easily, not because of the Flyers awful goaltending or lack of commitment to defense, it's because the Devils did such a good job at containing them.

Bwahah, I can't make this stuff up.

After two long, difficult series, I'm looking forward to the Devils. We deserve at least one easy opponent on our way to the cup. Rangers take this one in 6.

I wouldn't say run and gun, but definitely some more odd man rushes and more quality chances than we have been seeing lately.
i think smith is a great puck handler too, however Smith is more apt to give up the horrendous goal than Brodeur is...IE Smith tends to overhandle the puck..Brodeur is a lot smarter.

Someone will break it. Just think of it that way. But it is tough physically to play 14 + playoff games (triple Ot one game) and then play a team that's played less games.

yeah, it is true that history is against us....one thing that none of those 38 teams had...was a john tortorella training camp, that has got to be the hardest camp ever and they need to come in prepared for it....let's go rangers!!!! i believe!!!

Some of you guys are underestimating the Devils big time. This is going to be a tough, tough series -- Mark my words.

i agree that it won't be easy..it will be a tough series...any team that can make it to the ECF is a good team...i just don't think the devils are as strong of a team as the sens and caps are

I remember in 2004, rooting for the Yankees and taking solace in "No team has ever come back from 3-0 down in the ALCS, no team has ever come back from 3-0 down in the ALCS..."

And we all know how that worked out....

People love to point to that 0-38 stat while failing to mention that the Devils are one of the oldest teams in the league and on average are 2 1/2-3 years older than the Rangers. We may have played 2 more games (3 if you count the 3OT game) but their guys are older.

Zubrus- 33
Salvador- 36
Zidlicky- 35
Elias- 36
Sykora- 35
Poni- 32
Volchenkov- 30
Marty- 40

That is pretty much half of their starting lineup. By contrast, the Rangers oldest players are Feds (33), Rupp (32), Richards (31) and Hank (30).

absolutely will be a tough series. It ALWAYS is in the Playoffs between these two Rivals. However....I look at it this way. We wil see more chances on our end and better scoring opportunites for us. We will be able to score more goals in this series than vs the Caps. Also remember.....whacky things happen when these 2 teams play.

While it will be a close tough series.....it won't be a make one Mistake or one Goal and game is over type mentality that we just witnessed and experienced vs Washington.

Nah, they swept the flyers in the semis last year. They went 7 in the quarter, conference, and stanley cup finals.

Personally, I thought they shouldn't have gone 7 in the conference finals, Tampa Bay was not that good of a team. But Julian played a passive forechecking system against Tampa all series. So Tampa's Dmen weren't that challenged, despite being the worst defensive corps in the playoffs last year.

Autographs for Game 1 Devils.

Hate to start new thread for this. Mods, feel free to close if I get an answer.

Traveling from SE PA to see our first Rangers playoff game tomorrow. Bringing my nephew and he would kill to meet Lundqvist before the game and potentially get an autograph.

From memory, I think we stood outside that parking garage where a lot players come in around 3:30-4:00 for a 7pm game. Tomorrows game is 8pm and its playoffs. So I am not sure what would be a good time to safely arrive in NY tomorrow to possibly catch players. I am assuming they treat this game like any other, and a good time to arrive would be 4:30-5:00 adjusting for the 8pm start time.

Also appears we have rain all day. Do these guys ever sign anything in the rain? Or are they usually rushing to get inside?

Thanks for the help!

Who cares about history? Let's see that stat when we narrow it down to 1 seeds going against 6th seeds in the ECF. The boys will be prepared.

Most of the players drive right into MSG now, unfortunately. If you wait but the drive-in entrance after the game, some will stop and sign a few autographs. But you need to get there immediately after the game, it fills up very quickly. In the lobby you could meet Rupp, Stralman, Mitchell and Dubi walks in but he's not healthy. Not the most appealing list, I know . If you get there very early you could get them coming from the morning skate.

Were any of the teams that lost going 7 in the first two series as young as this team? Not having a lot of wear on the treads will help them. Also, my guess is none of those teams went through Camp Torturella.

Truer words have never been spoken. As I try to remind myself of the upcoming series: "NEVER judge your opponent solely by the stats they put up on the scoreboard."

The Devils are our worthy opponent, and Tortorella will do his damnedest to remind his players of that -- I guarantee.
