Wait, so you're telling me a player that got drafted by Detroit played in both Detroit and their AHL affiliate?

Not favourite team, but Schenn grew up idolizing Phaneuf (well i guess for 5 or so years before he was drafted)

Why couldn't the Devils have drafted Carlson instead of Tedenby? i heard he was a big Devils fan growing up. New Jersey native too.

EDIT: Luukko... Finnish guy... No wonder they like Finns so much. Same with Carolina (I think) and Minnesota drafting so many Finns because they have Finnish head scouts.
His father did actually not want the Flyers to pick his son.

Ben Bishop and Phil McRae were both drafted by the Blues.

We also had Cam Janssen on the team for while (unfortunately), but we didn't draft him.

First NHL prospect from Tennessee (Blake Geoffrion) was drafted by Nashville.

First NHL prospect from Georgia (Vinny Saponari) was drafted by Atlanta.

I know he said it, but I don't buy that. I don't even think he would have been drafted if the Flyers didn't pick him.

Pominville isn't from just across the border -- he spent time in Quebec and Wisconsin.

Danny Paille, Matt Ellis are both from Welland and that's 30 minutes to the First Niagara Center on a good day. Scott Thomas was the first local kid they picked who played a game for them. They've dabbled a bit with locals, but there are plenty who have not been drafted by the team (the Ratchuks, Kevin Quick, Thomas McCollum, and Adam Clendening come to mind).

Sounds like Eugene Melnyk doing Nelson Peltz a favour and having the Sens draft Brad Peltz in the 7th even though he's terrible.
