I just checked the schedule for the 5 remaining teams (Montreal, New Jersey, Atlanta, Tampa & T.O.) battling for the 6th-7th & 8th playoff spots and everone plays each other enough times to jump well into contention. Check out the TSN schedule for the end of March & April. I think Habs & New Jersey have the easiest schedules but if you don't win the "easy" games......... Atlanta plays Tampa approx. 4 times right there...if one team dominates, say goodbye to the playoffs. Basically it's still too early to panic. Let's hope not too many of these games go into overtime w/too many split points.
They are not far behind, but with the number of team in front of them, they will most likely be out of the top 8...
And yeah, the hottest team will make it...
Florida plays Tampa @ Atlanta a bunch of times.....2-3 times each.
Habs play T.O. twice
New Jersey twice
Anything can happen...............and it usually does.
My prediction's if Habs lose both to T.O. were out....but T.O. still won't make it.
If we split or win both we're in and could climb higher.
Atlanta will surpass T.B.
New Jersey will make it if they win every other game.
As strange as it may seem (with the way the Habs have been playing lately) they still control their own destiny. If they win more games than Atl, Tor, NYI and Fla (you don't even have to factor in TB or NJ) down the last stretch, they are in the playoffs. So, they are in control to this point.
The idea is to keep it this way. A loss tonight to TO and an ATL win and that all changes and we have to start looking for help. Best to keep your destiny in your own hands. Easy enough to say - it's up to the players to go out there and take what's theirs.
