So, Brodeur should stick around roughly 4-5 more years to break that record.....hey...he might as well go out with EVERY record. Like Favre.
He's got more chances to end up with one more alimony bill on his great record than breaking Roy's record.

As little as I like giving credit to a former Leafs, Sundin had the right idea on this topic.
Spent his time living it up while playing and tied the knot on retirement.

As for Brodeur, hopefully this becomes a non-issue if the Rangers do the job...

I'd pass that script over to Keanu Reeves.

Eh. I love the NJ team, but don't want them to win - I want somebody to end a drought.

If he wins the Cup, I think that he will retire, as with nearly 1200 games under his belt (in the regular season), what ,ore does he have to prove? I just hope that Lou Lamoriello has already been appraise of his intentions.

I hope that he comes back for one more year, however. At this point, if he isn't retiring, he should go year-to-year on 1 year NMC contracts.

I loved watching Bourque raise the Cup as much as anyone...but...that story would have been a million times better had he done it with Boston.

If the Devils win the Cup then I'd say the odds are on him retiring...but it's far from a given. If he thinks he still has some hockey left in him there's no reason to just walk away. The going out on top thing always seems to make more sense for players going out with their first ring to me. If the Devils win then Marty will be entering a summer from which he has ample experience with...if he still wants to play hockey and he's still able to do so at a competitive level, then why stop?

At this point of a player's career it is rarely about having something to prove; it's about having a passion for the game they've known their entire life.

You're never going to be able to convince Devils fans of this. Bourque's number being retired in Colorado is the source of much hilarity for us.

It's probably 70/30 in favor of him returning now that we've made a solid playoff run. We'll see what happens but for most of the regular season he was one of the worst goaltenders in the league statistically speaking. I have mixed emotions about the issue.

Child support AND alimony.. jesus.

Then again it is only roughly 10% of his yearly salary.. he should be fine forever.

Not to mention all his endorsements especially up in Quebec and his deal with Sher-wood. He's more than fine. He could retire and not have to worry. Not to mention he'll take a coaching or office job with the Devils after he retires. He said he wants to learn from Lou....Lou's never had a assistant G.M. At least not one anyone knows about. I don't think he'd have a issue with Marty taking that job title.

I can see Marty doing the TV gig for awhile, after he retires. HNL will be a brofest with him and Dano together!

If he retires after this season, I hope he lets whatever grudge he has against Luongo go, because I want Lou to pursue that option.

Man I hate Brodeur. **** him. Hasek >> Brodeur.

I hope the Ranger spank him.

I love Jersey (especially Parise, Henrique & Kovalchuk) but I just don't like Marty.

Probably because he shut out the Leafs so many times, but whatever. I think Brodeur is overrated. He can go suck on a lemon.

Brodeur doesn't have a grudge against Lu. Was he upset about being replaced at the Olympics? Yes he was but he's been on the record many times as a Lu supporter. There is no bad blood there.

Wouldn't mind seeing Marty on TV during the season. I'm gonna miss him when he goes

Would Avery chime in before or after his reviews on the latest purses ?

I think Brodeur will stick around for 1 more season after this one. I can see him grooming a rookie goalie for New Jersey next year.

Hope the rookie is not married. Marty like to groom a lot.

If your going to make that joke at least try and be funny ? Okay ? No? moving on.

The Devils really don't have a kid ready to back-up yet unless we trade for one. I really could see another year of Marty/Moose.

I suppose the Devils could bump up Keith Kinkaid but I'm not sure he's ready.

With Wedgewood in the pipeline you might see the Devils bring in a vet to mentor him once Marty retires after probably next season.
