Exhibit A: There is a Devils fan on the main board who said the Rangers "tanked" their way thru the first 2 rounds.

You can't get much dumber than that.

Yeah, I'm still trying to decipher that one. There are some really good Devils posters though. Shame that the weirdos take up most of the thread.

I don't have a clue. You would have to ask "Devilshark" who posted it. It's not worth the time though.

I'm sure it's just a misguided or poorly written critique of the Rangers playing style. Can't say I fault the Devils fans much for taking that angle. I sure did when the shoe was on the other foot. Hopefully the Rangers can match the Devils success.

Where did you find that photo? They did something similar to that on opening night a few years ago and I loved it.

IMO besides Henke a guy # 18 is playing is best hockey ever right now and will be seeing a lot more ice time in this series

I believe he is quoting the Main Board idiots. They're probably saying the Rangers are too banged up to compete with the Devils now.

PSSSHHH. Nah. I have a feeling our Rangers overcame/overcome it. This is their game... They are conditioned this way

What does that mean? That they manipulated the rounds so they could meet the Devils?

Oh, they dusted off the ice video projector!!! Last time it was used was the 2010-11 Home Opener, which I was fortunate to go to.

Yes a summary of a few pages of main board .
While Girardi and McD shared the work load I am perplexed at the lack of respect the NJD fans on main boards pay to NYR defense , particularly Staal , who had a monster game 7

The Montreal Canadiens turned ice video projection at the Bell Centre into cinematic art, especially with U2's "Where The Streets Have No Name" in the background.

I'd like to see the World's Most Famous Arena surpass this and put on a pre-game spectacle comparable to 1994 (they had laser light shows back then... I'm getting old just reminiscing about MSG being the center of the sports universe back then along with the Knicks).

Rival fans will always say that Staal is overrated because if his last name. But right now, he's our best defenseman, and that says a lot on this team.

For some reason, I think is finally time for the Rangers to make a quick series for themselves.

You know Staal is fully back when he routinely goes into the corner against 2 fore checkers and spins off them using his hip and a strong stick and comes away with the puck .
IMO Staal is about as close to Larry Robinson as you will ever see in this league . Also still think eventually he'll put uP more offense .
No one will ever march LR plus minus numbers but Staal really plays a similar game to him

I still think McD is. but really our defense is very structured...no one exactly sucks. Not even Stralman. Bickel is the closest, but he isn't even terrible

Shh don't tell turcotte8 but I went back to read the main board but don't forget Lundqvists pads and the 6 goalie method

They complain about that too

When Staal is at his best, it's tough to be better. I think with a full camp and preseason, he'll be better next year than he is now. But his stick work is very impressive. He's so good in the corners. And he's got a long and effective reach.

McD is a great skater though, and is super strong. I think he's got more offensive upside as well.

Anyway, can't go wrong with either of them!

I was thinking the same thing! This defense corps of the Rangers could be the best in their history with possibly 2 future Norris Trophy contenders. ABSOLUTELY accurate comparison between Staal & Larry Robinson!

Some posts back, I mentioned that Ryan McDonagh could be like Mark Howe before that gruesome injury: skates like the wind, agility second-to-none, and great hockey sense on the defensive side; comparing McD to Leetch would be a stretch, since #2 was more than a puck-moving defenseman... He was a Rushing Defenseman in the Bobby Orr mold!

Del Zotto has shades of Ray Bourque with his lateral skating and can jump into the play. His drawbacks are consistency in his own end and getting his shots on net as a PP quarterback. If he can polish up those deficiencies, MDZ could become a perennial All Star.
