Confirmed:

@VogsCaps: #Caps GM George McPhee has announced that Dale Hunter has decided not to return as coach in 2012-2013, citing family reasons.

Learn from him, both good and bad. If they can keep the mental stability he instilled while implementing a system that utilizes their strengths (and/or allows them to dictate play on their terms) they could do some damage.

Wow.

Now here's a great opportunity to get a veteran coach.

Interesting, if true. He did a great job with the thin personnel he had this year. He absolutely loves the Washington Capitals. My guess is he realizes something is amiss with McPhee at GM and even Ted at the top.

I think this is good news, but damn I don't know where we go from here. What kind of coach do we look for?

The same "thin personnel" that most members of the media picked to Win the East, if not Cup?

I am not sure how to react to this. I think I'd rather have him back for another year. The style isn't all that fun but I think the team made progress in a lot of areas under him.

Who are the options now?

There you have it....the greatest player in Caps history just made his feelings known about the state of the franchise by turning his back and walking away from this mess.

Fantastic Leonsis and McPhee....fan-friggen-tastic.

I will say I've been expecting this.

What an up and down year. Times when I absolutely hated Hunter, and times when I loved what he was doing.

An interesting year for sure, but one that ended with disappointment again.

Well, that's an interesting take. Completely wrong, but interesting I guess.
