I just want an actual hiring process this time. Vet a dozen or so candidates, interview several of the best options, and make a decision based on that process.

None of this picking a guy beforehand crap.

Hunter said he talked to his family last night, slept on the decision and told George this a.m.

Meh. Doesn't mean he'll come over next season. It'll probably slide for two years.

So when do they announce Sergei Fedorov as the new coach? Might as well continue the coddling.

In the slim chance that Laviolette gets the boot from the Flyers would he be worth it for the Caps?

CSKA.
Are you really sure this would be a good idea? To have a recently retired player who played with a lot of these guys as a head coach?

Hunter, asked there was any part of the job he didn't like, looks at reporters and smiles: "I love you guys." Hahaha. Well played.

Guy who knows how to win and that the Russians would listen to. That would be terrible.

We should be so lucky.

He still hasn't signed, just announced his intention to.

He won't get booted. But if he did, he would instantly become my favorite candidate.

The prospect of Hunter coming back for next season was already an depressing thing to consider just two games into the capitals off season so I feel better that he isn't. Definitely adds another storyline to this off season.

Love him as a player but pretty obvious he had a short term coaching life based on the coaching decisions he was making.

Uh, coddling? He's the guy that actually got Alexander freaking Semin to be a two-way player.

I'm not sure if Feds would be the best guy to be head coach, but I'd love him on the staff in some capacity.

Now would be the appropriate time for Uncle Teddy to seriously consider whether GMGM is the right guy to lead this franchise moving forward. GMGM has said that he has been on Hunter to coach the Caps for years, and he finally gets Hunter, then Hunter decides the NHL is not for him. Add to it GMGM should of fired BB's before the start of this past season, and it seems like the front office needs to be cleaned out and the Caps move forward with a new GM who has a fresh vision for the team.

Well I'm kind of disappointed oddly enough. I was hoping perhaps this year was a lesson to be learned and that Hunter would continue and loosen the reigns offensively in the future. Admittedly I didn't like a lot of his decisions but at the same time I think he instilled something in some of the players that perhaps they didn't know they had. Or something like that. LOL

Interesting situation nonetheless and I wouldn't rule out Jim Johnson. He seems intelligent enough and certainly more of a people person which would benefit the players and media. Not saying a coach should be best friends but some respect would be nice. Hunter truly seemed to disrespect the veterans.

Well anyway............good luck Dale and I wish you the best in the future.
