Thats what it sounds like.

But I don't know if he's talking about the Knights or the Caps.

RE: Iron Mike

He has too much of an ego and seems to have lost his edge really. This is not a GMGM type of hire to me at least. Keenan would want a great deal of say in personell decisions.

Remember this is the guy that stormed into Gretzky's hotel room berating him on a drunken spree when he was with the blues. It could work..or it could get REAL ugly.
I love Melrose the TV personality but Melrose the coach is likely done after that debacle in Tampa.

Agreed Keenan would be too strong of a personality for GMGM.

I thought you all would be devastated losing Hunter.
The Caps were a mess with a lot of infighting.
I have never seen a Caps team work so hard as they did; most of you disliked how the 2010 club was all about scoring and no grinding.

I thought DH changed all this...but yet most of you aren't upset he is leaving. Am I missing something?

At the start of the season making it to game 7 round 2 would have been a disappointment but considering where the Caps were early Spring I thought this was something to build upon.

It looks now like DH was nothing but a hired gun...a deadline player who is walking and you have to start from scratch.

Don't get why the coach left either since I thought he did a good job.
A few things to understand. First and foremost, we are a miserable, misanthropic bunch who are happy whenever anyone related to our team gets canned or leaves. It's the consequence of 35 years of torture rooting for this franchise.

Second, the perceptions about "in-fighting" and/or lack of effort were almost purely driven by national media that doesn't follow the Caps. Team chemistry has never really been a major issue. There have been times when it seemed like we needed more leadership, but the team has always gotten along. One moment of frustration on the bench by Ovie (the "fat ass" thing at Boudreau) was a major exception, not the rule.

Third, the Caps became a coin flip hockey team. We've gotten accustomed to being considered an elite team, and now we basically traded that for a coin flip every game, no matter who we played. Sure, we worked hard in making the games coin flip games, but it's still a crappy way to try and succeed when you feel like you have the talent to be elite. The hope is that the players can take some of the lessons they learned playing the Hunter style and hang onto them when transitioning to a style that is more befitting of the roster.

While the debacle in Tampa was bad ..alot of that could have been placed on the joke of ownership at the time too.

At this point he's so far removed from having coaching sucess that I would have to agree there.

And yeah..Keenan would either do well or spell the absolute doom of the franchise. Too risky.

I take it as meaning whether he's behind the bench of the Knights or a more managerial position with them, he's fine either way. Didn't his brother take over behind the bench there? Maybe he doesn't want to force his way back in and put him in a bad position.

The problem with Keenan is that he wears out his welcome so bloody quickly everywhere he goes, it`s obvious he`s insane.

I also find this hugely ironic coming from the guy who believes that an organization that hasn't missed the playoffs for 5 years is somehow a 'mess'.

If you didn't see Semin turn in some excellent two-way play the year Fedorov came in and the year after, you either weren't watching or choose to ignore it. The guy earned himself PK time, FFS.

I've never seen a guy who talks out of both sides of his mouth more. One thread up, you're bashing Semin and all of his supporters. Which is it?

Great, he earned himself some PK time. Did that make him a stud 2 way player suddenly? Nope.

Yep Mark is coaching the Knights right now and Dale`s son is an assistant.

Sorry that I'm not able to be like you are with McPhee, and ignore anything good someone has done.

I can actually acknowledge the good stretches of Semin play. Doesn't mean I want him back at the salary he'll command. But again, you either didn't watch or choose to ignore the good two-way play we saw from Semin when Fedorov was in town.

And that's why you continually miss the mark in your analysis, because clearly you don't get a thing I'm saying. I don't ignore anything. I also tell it like it is. I don't try to hide the mistakes with the 12th place "you tried" ribbon for failure.

Leafs fan, I come in peace.

I would take a serious look at Ron Wilson. He has a history, a playoff history with the caps, and can coach a talented team, as shown with SJ and the US Men's Olympic team.

Wilson would be perfect for Ovie, Semin and Backstrom with his run and gun system.

Yeah, I'm not sour on Wilson like a lot of people here are. What he did with the US Olympics team was nothing short of amazing.

Thank you Dale for 2 great 7 game series and to putting Holtby into goal. Never knew this team can actually play defense.

Dale is a classy guy, perfect time to announce his departure know we can actually work on finding a coach and let him decide where he wants the team to go.

I am still happy that Hunter style hockey is gone.
Can we actually play balanced hockey in the future please.

I`m just glad he left on his own terms,....I have a lot of respect that he`s going where his heart is.......he came in, had a great run and is now going home....,...he was one of my fave players, and this way that image isn`t tarnished in anyway.

As I understand it, he's always, unofficially, advised GMGM on OHL drafting.

but I think he and his brother are a team... one coaches, one manages, but they really do it together. i'm guessing he'll just manage for a while.
