Can you do that/is there any sort of limit on what they can/can't be a part of? Like I know in college basketball (which is a horse of a different color due to eligibility and not getting paid/compensated, etc.) that red shirts can't travel with the team or stay with them in hotels, stuff like that.

#CTWhale breakup day at XL Center. Exit interviews for players & 9 will head to NY as #NYR taxi squad.
https://twitter.com/#!/PaulDoyle1/st...94333636247552

9 players are headed here.

Just a guess

Erixon
Talbot
Wellman
Bourque
Newbury
Deveaux

Do they bring up Miller and McIlrath to be around the team? They don't have SPCs for this season but they could skate with the extras. They won't be part of the active roster. There's no room.

None of the Whale players will play. Its hard to find 9 players.

Hrivík is definitely in. My colleague was talking to him and Hrivík cofirmed that. Also – http://www.slovakprospects.com/zahra...ripoji-uz-dnes – but it's just in Slovak.

I'll translate just his quote. „Asi sa mi stále sníva,“ - "I guess I still dream."

I do know that he doesn't have NHL contract, but there is no problem to sign him to ATO, if I'm not mistaken.

An emergency pairing of Erixon-McIlrath?

He'll undoubtedly get a contract, IMO. A lot to like about this kid.

Do these guys stay in the same hotels and ride the same buses/planes as the guys on the team? Because if so, it might be a bit of a distraction.

Great opportunity for these young kids to continue practicing and training. That's the biggest plus, it allows for them to train with Reg Grant and for the Rangers NHL staff to get a look at their kids and how they look now compared to what they look like in Camp next season. HUGE PLUS.

Imagine you were on a team of more or less the same guys all year, gotten really close and comfortable with each other and you're in the middle of a title run, when suddenly 10 kids you don't know join the group. Would at least be a little bit awkward, don't you think? The mental part of a playoff run is just as important as the physical one.

It was breakup day at the XL Center, where the coaching staff held exit interviews with players. A handful of players (Cam Talbot, Tim Erixon, Kris Newbury, Casey Wellman, Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, Marek Hrivik, J.T. Miller, Chad Kolarek) and the coaches are heading to New York as a sort of taxi squad for the Rangers.

yes he has been healthy for awhile but he wasn't healthy in time for the rangers to send him down and get him on the clear day roster so he couldn't play in the ahl playoffs

Kolarik is healthy. He could have played in the AHL playoffs but he wasn't on the clear day roster. He was on the Rangers IR. He could not be activated off of IR and assigned to the AHL because he was not ready to play when Kolarik had to be on the clear day roster. He suffered the torn ACL in Rangers camp so he was on IR.

i don't think it would be even the slightest bit awkward. first its not like they don't know these players and do you really think that having mcilrath quietly sitting in the corner watching is going to distract us? are we really that weak mentally? give me a break

First off, do you really think that the organization would put them in a situation that would become disruptive? Come on, this is the Conference Finals.

Second, it's reported above that the Hartford group will practice separately--none of them are going to be in the lockerroom during Ranger practice and I can guarantee you that none of them will be in the lockerroom on game day (no matter how they are dressed).

There's no distraction here.

I see Talbot joining the real NYR practices when Henrik decides he's not going, Erixon and Newbury in the optionals when next to no one shows up... Otherwise i see little interaction
