Trotz does this with almost all young players, especially highly touted ones. To make sure they develop the way he wants, he sits them if they dont. Did the same thing with Suter. Wilson and Trotz just arent seeing eye to eye right now, but itll work out.

Legwand, Hartnell, Radulov (the 3 most highly touted fowards we've had), where immediately given ice-time at the NHL level and were rarely scratched. I believe Radulov spent a short time in the AHL.

Wilson is being inconsistent in doing what the coaches tell him. I think he will finally learn; I also think Preds mgmt sees him as a key piece to the team.

Unless a great offer comes our way, I expect him to be a Predator for a while.

we were an expansion team playing scrubs .. legwand playing means nothing. same with hartnell when he was young. its crazy looking back how under-skilled we were.

radulov got his fair share of ice time but his skill level is through the roof. dont forget his ridiculous point streak with the remparts. if he had his head on straight and stayed in the NHL, I really believe he'd be with the likes of gaborik, kane, kovalchuk

For everyone complaining about how much I wanted to trade wilson for a guy like Brown etc earlier this year... this is why.

No one on this team has been more disappointing than Colin Wilson. I don't know if that is because Trotz doesn't trust him to play or if Wilson isn't doing what Trotz wants off ice or in practice, but Wilson doesn't fit here. That much is certain. I don't foresee easy contract negotiations with Wilson this summer.

On the bright side, congrats watson!

OK, two Preds Prospects will be in contention for the Memorial Cup. Austin Watson of the London Knights (OHL rep.) and Charles Olivier-Roussell (QMJHL rep.)

London Knights and the St. John's Sea Dogs look like the two strong teams with the Edmonton Oil Kings in the mix. Shawinigan is the host but they could be in trouble. They look like a B cup fighting against A+ clubs.

Watson looked real good in the OHL championship series. Not flashy but got the job done. Lots of hustle from this kid.

Any chances he is ready for the NHL next year?

For that matter, are any of our forward prospects NHL ready? Beck? Latta? Watson? MacLellan?

From a thread on the prospects forum about Austin Watson:

You hope for Arnott, but you're probably getting Scatchard.

Ha, I don't see Watson turning into Scatchard. He will at least make it to the bigs though, nice safe pick again.

Well I wouldn't put Watson in that class just yet. His priority is to play a few games as a pro first.

Beck has been a favourite of mine for a while but there are others who are ahead of him in the pipeline. If he doesn't make an impact next year, he could turn into a career AHL-er or trade bait.

Shalla could jump through the ranks quickly so keep an eye on him.

Latta should get some looks during pre-season. He'll push for a roster spot, but I don't one available right now.

Based on what I saw in Milwaukee, Beck and Latta need another season with the Admirals. Watson didn't play here in the playoffs. Last year, he was behind those two, so he needs 1.5 to 2 seasons in Milwaukee before he is NHL ready. With better development, you might knock half a season off those estimates.

I don't know anything about MacLellan. Chris Mueller would be the forward from Milwaukee that I think can make the jump to the NHL. He had 32 goals and 28 assists. Kyle Wilson would be the alternative, 22 goals and 32 assists in Milwaukee.

Watson gets an assist on the opening goal for the London Knights. His line as a whole has some good chemistry. He's been working hard down low, and has blocked a couple shots from the point.
