Where are you getting this from? Very, very few Devil fans said the Devils would sweep or win in 5.
Actually it was a joke response (hence the sarcasm) to an earlier post making fun of Devil fans hoping for a sweep. As I am sure you have read this whole thread I am surprised you didnt get it.
Now, if you do not like my post, or my humor, please feel free to head back to your own board as I am sure you have plenty to discuss.
1st period was even and we DOMINATED them in the third. Absolutely embarrassed them.
Marty was great, and his save on Staal could've been a BIG turning point, but Hank was better.
Both post game shows are still talking about how good the Devils were period 1 and 2. No credit is being given to the NY D. Anyone ever give thought that the D is what was good? Blocked shots big saves. Why did those shots go wide? Why was hank able to see the shots to make the saves? The D. Its a great forecheck the devils have but the NY D was better.
We played a pretty good game. Our defense was a little shaky in the first 2 periods but we played a very strong game. I like the chances our offense created and I don't care how many wins Brodeur has, he always looks so incredibly awkward.
I had absolutely no nerves this game and really got to enjoy it. Why? Because I'm used to seeing the Devils, and even though they have the skill to potentially beat us they don't scare me the least bit. Washington scared me because of their talent and our past struggles with them. Hell, Ottawa scared me because they were successful against us in the regular season.
This was the most fluid our offense looked since game 1 against Ottawa.
Overall I'm really happy but we could still tweak some things.
NJ Devils outplayed the Rangers skaters. Henrik Lundqvist outplayed the entire Devils squad, period.
For a good portion, the Devils were buzzing all around the Rangers. It did not last forever, and they still only had 21 shots on net, and Hank looked after them all without having to stand completely on his head.
Devils did not outplay the Rangers tonight, in my view. NYR got better chances, but we all know what they tend to do with 2-on-1 breakouts etc. (except for Kreider who did the simple and correct thing, which is to shoot and score).

That 3rd period was a thing of beauty as our boys strapped on the hardhats, brought the lunch pails and left it all on the ice! Those two defensive plays by McD catching up to Parise and forcing Kovy to the backhand were Norris Trophy worthy plays; throw in his diving to touch the puck to get the icing also.
Very proud of our performance tonite! Go boys.

This game was good for so many reasons. Obviously great to win game 1 of the series. But also:
- Lundy showed why he is better then brodeur.
- Rangers D showed the devils they have not faced a D like this in the playoffs. A shutout after so many kept talking about the Devils "offense"
- Kreider played well with assist and goal
- McD. Unbelievable How many devils fans saying he was "overrated"? They ain't saying that anymore
- we looked tired, but we demonstrated "legs" in the third period. If they thought they were going to wear us down .... Probably not a good strategy

Great start to the series get Wednesday locked down now and were sitting pretty sweet.
I can't help but think how nice it would be to have sauer taking minutes away from our top 4. I can't help but think about bikels 5 minutes or less will get to us eventually.
