They have a weird situation where half the core is in decline and half the core is just getting started. There's probably going to be some lag years for things to get coordinated.
That Stamkos kid is lights out. But with the slew of players in decline, you can't help but wonder if the Lighting will short circuit. Guy Boucher might blow a fuse.

Actually... its the complete opposite. The Tampa Bay Lightning are about to start its ascent. Yzerman has done a great job of restocking the cupboards without losing too much to the current roster.
We are two players away from being a playoff team easily (a goalie and a top 4 dman), and we have a farm team that just set not only a ton of AHL records but professional hockey records.
We have more picks than we know what to do with this draft and that will stock the cupboards even more and allow us to attain a player or two needed for the big club roster as well.
St Louis has another 3-4 years in him easily. Remember he started late. Lecavalier has another 7 easily and is finally becoming healthy again. Malone is also having a second coming and still has plenty of years left.
Sorry to be so serious in this amazing thread.
I guess we should just say, the Tampa Bay Lighting have a very BRIGHT future.
I think next year's edison of the Lightning will be better than this one. They've got pretty good potential. It'll be interesting to see the young players develop in parallel with the burnout of the old guys. Perhaps they'll be able to make the playoffs and win some series.
