Also further proved his obsession with the NYR blocking shots by saying that he probably only saw Lundqvist for 10 mins of the entire game because the Rangers were always around him. Rangers should just send Fatty to the retirement home.

That's just a bizarre comment for Marty to make. He should be hoping that the Devils get more shots through so that they have a better chance to win. Because even if the Rangers are using their "heads" or whatever to block one-timers.. it still means that the Rangers are doing their job limiting scoring chances. The bitterness is really flowing out of him tonight.

Someone has to check the newspaper and see if the quote is in it.

Yep, let's hope our shots hit guys in the head, injuring them! That will teach them to block shots...

What a dirt bag. Typically Marty!

Off topic a bit. (& believe me I'm ecstatic they won).

I feel it's very unprofessional that Emerick wore his NJ Stanley Cup ring tonight.

Do the game. Root for whoever. But the ring?!!! Really?!!!

Blatant. IMHO don't care he called a fair game. Blatant & unprofessional IMHO.

we dealt with it last series with the Caps. I mean the NBC guys were basically rooting for the Caps until game 7 where they seemd to call the game fair

Disagree. Honestly, I don't care what he does as long as he calls it fair. He's actually more unbiased when he's doing national games involving the Devils because he's very aware of his subjectivity and makes a genuine effort to be professional.

Meh. A lot of former athletes/analysts/broadcasters wear their rings during the playoffs.

It's at about the 3 min. Mark. Aww....poor Fatso. Devils bench probably ran out of twinkies earlier than usual today.

Yeah. I gasped when he said Marty did something bad. I forget what it was, but he actually said "Marty with another bad (turnover? rebound? something like that.)" and thought I was going nuts.

Analysts. Athletes.

Yup. It gives them credibility.

If Jim Natz rooted for Fred Couples blatantly on air it would be unprofessional.

Wearing the ring of a team you announced for while they play another, is unprofessional. Leave it at home. Emerick is a known quantity, he gains nothing by it, other than telling the world "I'm a devil"

End of story

Hey guys, I rarely post, but I found this quote from one of the posters on the Devils board. Quite interesting :-) Talk about your rose colored glasses!

"Come on guys, nobody panic. What I saw was a Ranger team get outplayed for 45+ minutes by a very rusty Devils team, get one lucky goal and hang on to win. That's not going to cut it in a seven game series. There were so many little things we were doing wrong tonight, that we have a lot of room for improvement. I honestly don't think the Rangers can elevate their game much beyond what they did tonight, though. They looked tired.

Our guys were only playing at about 80-85% of the pace we played against Philly, IMO. Passes weren't crisp. Plays were made late. Shots weren't on target. The PP blew. All these things can and will be improved.

At the same time, we shut down Richards and Gaborik, shut down the Rangers PP, and started to show that our forecheck can dominate this team too. Marty looked 10 years younger tonight.

If we keep increasing the tempo, eventually the Rangers will break. What I saw tonight told me this series is the Devils' to lose. "

He wears it during every game he calls, not just games for the Devils.

The 1st period was a wash, they dominated the second period and our goalie held the fort, while we dominated the third and scored on their goalie.

A lot of this post is like a direct echo of posts by Senators fans and Capitals fans after losing game 1 in those series. The bolded especially. A lot of that is what it looks like when you lose to the Rangers.

Imagine how much better the score would be if we didn't have the biggest playoff choker in net!

The Rangers D is much better than anything the Devils have faced this post season. You could see that the Girardi goal took the life right out of them. Then they began pressing and the Rangers got better chances and some odd man rushes. Game two could very possibly play out the same way if the Rangers score first.

I know it's only 1 game but am I the only one that wasn't THAT impressed with the Devils' forecheck. It was there 1 period out of 3 and they did nothing with it when they had it. The Sens' forecheck was much more potent, IMO.

The Garden was a very relaxed/subdued, but fun environment through 2 periods tonight. It seemed like The Rangers just turned on another gear in the 3rd and the crowd responded.

Much different than a Game 7 of course but still a fun night at the game.

I actually got to take a short nap before going into the City because of the late start time.

devs will be tougher in Game 2...bet on it.
