Unless his goal scoring drops off just a bit as is usually the case with really prolific goal scorers.

Yes, that's exactly what they said the year he lit the lamp 50 times!

When you have a spark like Stamkos, there is always a bright future.

Hey, you don't do that as much as a CBJ fan, there's already plenty of cushion to break your fall

Whatever will the Lightning do without Kubina who with the Flyers wasn't even dressed for some playoff games cause they thought Lilja and Gustafsson were better options. Than when he did play it was a whopping 10 minutes a game.

Fun thread.

Just to clear something up though, Stamkos is 22 and won't turn 23 until February of next season. Still blows my mind really.

Don't shoot the messenger, but I believe someone did an analysis that showed that goalscorers generally tend to peak around age 25 or 26 and then gradually decline from there. Based on that analysis, Stamkos probably has about 3 or 4 really great goalscoring years before his production begins to decline.

Agreed now who that is....I am not sold on it being Luongo due to the pieces they would have to give up. Maybe Vokoun as a UFA?

Decline from what? They've missed the playoffs 4 of the last 5 years. The 1 year they made the playoffs, as the 5th seed, they went on a run to the ECF. If that's what you're holding up as their success, then they've already declined.

Boy, it really feels like they've been better than that.

IMO the loss of St Louis in a couple years is going to be a gut punch to that team. He's one of those players who is just about irreplaceable at what he does.

I'd agree. You can't replace a Martin St. Louis. You can attempt to though. #89 in Norfolk may have something to say in a year or two though.

QUICK! A poster misspelled a player's name by one letter, gang up on him and correct him to show him how much smarter I am!

You really have to wonder how they're going to amp things up this year. There definitely have to be some changes made before things go too dim and they need to rebuild. But of course the question is watt the right moves are. Shouldn't take a Thomas Edison to figure this one out when they already have Stamkos.

With the mention of Thomas Edison multiple times in this thread and the fact that the Lightning are the only team with Tesla Coils in their arena, I think this comic is appropriate. I linked this earlier in the TBL forum.

7/10 is Tesla Day btw.

They need to ask Headmen to stop by IKEA's lamp section on his way back from Sweden.
