Great News For Hockey

Great News For Hockey. Just heard on Boomer and Carton that the Rangers, Devils game Ratings almost beat the combine Ratings of the Yankees and the Mets.

Rangers - 6.04
Yankees - 3.79
Mets - 2.39

Was just about to post this. Freakin' awesome. Now there is no excuse for the media to not cover hockey when people obviously care more about it than the 36th game of the MLB season.

Two fanbases in one market, that's why.

The usual Hockey hating Radio Hosts, love to use Ratings as their tool to put Hockey down, instead of their lack of knowledge for the sport.(Fatcessa, Carton, Beningo and Roberts to name a few). I want to hear Fatcessa state these ratings on his show today. As much as I Can't stand him, at least he is doing a lot of Hockey lately

That's a great number for hockey, if it's accurate.

They read the numbers on the air. It was like Christmas for Boomer.

Don't kid yourself, there are still plenty of Devil fans that contributed.
They just seem to have a lot more that only come out to support the team during the playoffs.

They drew around 1.5 in their playoff games as a high.

I think that with NBC doing so much advertizing on both the Fan and 1050, they have been putting the pressure on these stations for more coverage. the Knicks are gone and it's drawing more interest.

Saturday morning on FAN Richard Neer was talking some hockey, and someone called him to commend him for it. Neer said the hosts don't talk hockey because when they do, the phones go dead. And Neer is a hockey fan.

That just didn't sound right.

in the ny mkt? or nationally? i think it's more rangers-devils appeal that is bringing the casual new yorker back to 1994. My dad for example, who was a fan for probably 30 years until the garbage around the turn of the century was met with ridiculous ticket prices, watched last night for sure I bet. Lot of ppl like that.

I really like Neer, but I don't believe that. He also tries to avoid Hockey because I don't think he watches the games. I base a lot of what I say on the regular season. A lot of the Hosts have now been jumping on the ban wagon. Beningo is one of them. I'll never forget, during the Regular season, the Rangers had a big game one night. The Knicks were off and Beningo told Roberts that there was nothing on last night so he watched Women's Golf. Now all of a sudden He's willing to put in the work and watch the Rangers.

I'm confused, I thought we were ruining hockey with our style of play?

Clearly, people are tuning in to see the fall of the NHL.

More people would rather call in and ***** about the Mets and Yankees when they haven't even played 1/4 of the season

Not to turn this into the WFAN thread, but Beningo when he did overnights, was much better. He would actually talk hockey then and be able to hold somewhat of a conversation with an avid hockey guy.(In between all the bro's)

I remember in the early 90's not just 1994, it seemed to me like the Rangers were covered more and talked about more.I think hockey ad died out in NY market (for the mainstream) once the dark years came in.

And then who wants to talk about a disappointment for a hockey team?

Beningo was good with talking about it, he's just painful to listen to.

Very happy to see the ratings.
