Is that really what is happening in the Atlantic this year?
The Flyers were barely better than the Penguins.
The Devils demolished the Flyers.
The Rangers are doing to the Devils what the Devils did to the Flyers.
Are these teams that far apart or is it coaching coming through at the right times?
I think match-ups had a lot to do with.
I know I didn't want the Rangers to ever face the Pens in the playoffs.
Philly was a match-up nightmare for Pitt. Devils were a nightmare match-up for Philly. And I think the Rangers have a favorable match-up in the Devils - well at least compared to Ottawa and Washington who give us fits.
Who knows what will happen in this NYR/NJD series though. Far from over.
This is way too black and white. It's all about matchups. We match up very well with teams like Philly and NJ and extremely poorly against a team like Pitt.
The transitive property doesn't really work in sports.
The Atlantic is more like a game of rock, paper, scissors. The Flyers are a nightmare for the Pens. The Pens are a nightmare for the Rangers. The Rangers are a nightmare for the Flyers.

The Devils and Isles play everyone tough.
Probably the best analogy I've seen. It really isn't as black and white as the title suggests.
Obviously one game is just a sign of what is to come
lol seriously, jump the gun much?
well since the rangers beat the devils in game one 3-0, theyll win the series.
kings beat phx 4-2, so theyll win as well, but since the rangers gave up less goals while scoring only one less, the NYR win the stanley cup over the kangs.
updated title to thread
rangers>>>>>>>kings>>>>Devils>>PHX>>>>Flyers>Preds >>Det>Pens...obviously

This is the only post that needs to get some recognition. It's like everyone implemented a system to beat the team that they couldn't beat just 3 or 4 years ago.

Can we please wait more than one game before starting threads about how much better the Rangers are than opponents? They won the first games against Ottawa and Washington, and we all know neither was an easy series. This is quite premature. It's a seven game series, not one.
If team A can beat B and B can beat C it doesn't necessarily mean A can then beat C. What's so hard about this notion for people to understand? As a NYR fan I believe if we played the Penguins in round one they would have beaten us and we would all be talking about how the NYR choked.
