It was just one game, you know. If they sweep the Devils, then we can marvel at the bizarre cycle of dominance in the Atlantic. But the series isn't over.

Actually, the best recipe for success is the Detroit model. Puck position and counter punching. When Pittsburgh won the cup they were able to adapt to any style. This can't be done with a coach who employs a rigid system. It also requires a gutsy work ethic.

Boston won last year by being the baddest team on the planet with one of the best goaltending performances in history. Everyone has a goalie this year. There are no Osgoods or Marc Maybe Fleurys.

For all the soccer people here the Rangers play a very Italian style of game. Crowd the box, block shots and break out when the opportunity presents itself. Personally I hate that style of play in soccer it's not the "beautiful game", to a more extreme extent it's also what Chelsea did vs. Barca.

Like non-stop forecheck, dehumanizing, french-whiteglovestapping, hand in your trousers, drunken Rothlisburger, black-n-white TV on a nightstand in an old hotel, balboa erection bad.

I would have posted that after the NY Rangers won the series not after a single game.

and FYI, the 38 times that a team went in 7 game in both of the 1st 2 rounds, well they lost the 38 times...

with that being said have a good rest of the series

Seriously. I usually stay out of threads like this, but why does this thread exist?

Rangers beat the Flyers, Flyers beat the Penguins, Penguins beat the Rangers and the Devils are a wild card.

I was going to start keeping track of the most ridiculous threads on HF, in hopes of creating a "worst of" and then crowing an ultimate winner at year's end.

Unfortunately the OP just crushed that idea to smithereens.

Congratulations on setting the bar so incredibly high (or low) that no one else will even try now.

Are these teams that far apart or is it coaching coming through at the right times?
Nothing here but a styles issue.

Rangers play well against the Flyers. They are a weak defensive team with a weak goalie and when you have a sound defensive structure and do not get intimidated by their goonery, the Flyers are a easy team to handle.

The Rangers DO NOT play well against the Penguins. We can point to any number of things that cause this, but I will lean on size, speed and offensive creativity down the middle as the reasons we cannot contain that team.

The Rangers and Devils match up pretty evenly with the nod going to the Rangers. 23-6-5 record cannot be overlooked (Hank's record against the Devils). This is a situation where more often than not, we sem to get the goals when we need them, more than the Devils do.

I bolded that specific section because the Rangers will have to learn real fast how to beat that kind of team because if we are to advance to the finals, the Kings have size, speed and creativity down the middle and that is going to pose a significant problem....

The NHL is gonna windup changing the rules because of this Ranger team.

They sit on pucks and do nothing to try and mount an attack, and its an embarrassment to the game. We actually saw Eric Staahl ACTUALLY PROP HIS ASS DOWN ON THE PUCK MORE THAN ONCE LAST NIGHT AND JUST SIT THERE.

Rangers cant beat teams playing Hockey, so they camp and keep their fingers crossed looking for an ugly goal.

Id take Philly over NY any godamn day of the week. At least the Flyers actually try and play both ends.

Should I amend that to read their fake ass attempts at bring an overly physical team?

You're not going to try to insinuate that the Flyers do not try to intimidate the opposition with their physical play and after the whistle crap that is only second in the league to the Bruins?

Please. I was born at night, it just wasn't last night.

It's been one ****ing game, how about we let the series play out before we say the Rangers are better than the Devils? How about that? The Devils dropped game 1 to the Flyers too, and look how that turned out.
