Whatever will the Lightning do without Kubina who with the Flyers wasn't even dressed for some playoff games cause they thought Lilja and Gustafsson were better options. Than when he did play it was a whopping 10 minutes a game.

Yes, that's exactly what they said the year he lit the lamp 50 times!
Don't shoot the messenger, but I believe someone did an analysis that showed that goalscorers generally tend to peak around age 25 or 26 and then gradually decline from there. Based on that analysis, Stamkos probably has about 3 or 4 really great goalscoring years before his production begins to decline.
Decline from what? They've missed the playoffs 4 of the last 5 years. The 1 year they made the playoffs, as the 5th seed, they went on a run to the ECF. If that's what you're holding up as their success, then they've already declined.

Boy, it really feels like they've been better than that.
IMO the loss of St Louis in a couple years is going to be a gut punch to that team. He's one of those players who is just about irreplaceable at what he does.

I'd agree. You can't replace a Martin St. Louis. You can attempt to though. #89 in Norfolk may have something to say in a year or two though.
I think next year's edison of the Lightning will be better than this one. They've got pretty good potential. It'll be interesting to see the young players develop in parallel with the burnout of the old guys. Perhaps they'll be able to make the playoffs and win some series.

I thought next year's edison was pretty good as well. Lots of bright bulbs in this thread.
You really have to wonder how they're going to amp things up this year. There definitely have to be some changes made before things go too dim and they need to rebuild. But of course the question is watt the right moves are. Shouldn't take a Thomas Edison to figure this one out when they already have Stamkos.

With the mention of Thomas Edison multiple times in this thread and the fact that the Lightning are the only team with Tesla Coils in their arena, I think this comic is appropriate. I linked this earlier in the TBL forum.
