IF the Rangers win the cup, I have a hard time seeing them not breaking the record...

You have that backwards. West is going to win the Cup. There is no other way, they are just better at this point.

Wrong. Just to clear this up for everyone, here are the actual numbers:

Current playoff format
09-10 Canadiens
08-09 Hurricanes
02-03 Wild
01-02 Leafs
01-02 Avalanche
92-93 Leafs
89-90 Blackhawks

Best of 5 first round
85-86 Blues
84-85 Nordiques
83-84 North Stars
81-82 Nordiques

Best of 3 first round
74-75 Islanders

Just 2 rounds of 7 before the final
67-68 Blues

However, the playoff format was odd from 1941-42 and earlier, so the rest may have come from this period? Don't really want to figure that out. And the Original Six period only had one round before the final, so that cannot count. So, in the current format, the number is 0-7.

Like I said there's only been 23 game sevens total in the current format where all 4 rounds are 7 sooooo?

I guess it maybe true if you count hockey since its invention in the 1800s?

They must be counting round 3 as also including the Stanley cup final, which would lump in pre-67 series. If not then the number is weird. Anyways, this team has come back from the dead enough times for me to not bet against them for anything. If NYR makes it all the way they certainly won't make it easy for themselves so the 26 game mark is certainly reachable
