Ah, okay. Seems a bit weird to do it that way, but what can you do. On the other hand, it's hard to compare teams which played in two different groups, so it may not be all that bad.

I know, the best solution would be to hand out equal ranking points.

France has actually very solid chance to make it out of that qualification group. I'm predicting, France, Germany and Denmark as the winners (wish Belarus though).

Now that Slovakia reaches the final against Russia, what does that mean for the groups in 2014. Would appreciate if someone can update this.

Thanks so much for your quick reply. The only positive thing for Canada fans is that we probably get the weakest pool of the three pools. There is no excuse for Hockey Canada now. Get your act together Hockey Canada, since Sochi is around the corner.

Good thing is that we get the easiest pool. Canada's only test is Finland. However, just because you finish first does not guarantee anything. You will still have to play a good team in the QF. On any given day, any team can be beaten. It is not a best of 7, but a best on 1. However, I am happy we will have the weakest pool for Sochi.

They would go to Group D, but their chance to win group with Great Britain and Japan is pretty low...
