if he's a free agent would he fit with this team especially with giroux for the right price? i think he would fit perfect for this line especially if jagr leaves.

Too expensive, otherwise I'd love to have him.
He's responsible defensively, lethal offensively. Inconsistent, yes, but wow, what a talent.

flyers have to replace jagr, unless he comes back which i dont see happening so something has to be done, it cant be another rookie, they need a experienced forward on the first line, more likely it will be a trade.

I think Giroux and Semin would make a good line.. But that would be whenever Semin shows up

I wonder whether I could conceive of a worse signing for this team than Semin.

Couldn't be any worse than Zherdev. I could see a guy like Semin thriving in Laviolette's system. The fact he'd get to free wheel on offense would be most appealing. As for defense, he'd just need a good defensive linemate. And, this should also be noted, Alexander Semin is also a +92 his last four seasons. Say what you want about +/- not being a reliable stat, but I think that has some bearing about Semin being able to play the game both ways. He'd be a guy who could keep up with Giroux and finish those passes off.

^ the reason why it's worse than Zherdev is because he'll cost 2-3 times as much as Zherdev was paid when he played in Philly.

If past games against each other are any indication, Giroux loathes Semin. I've been fervently against the idea of signing Semin this offseason, but he really is an otherworldly talent and would give Giroux that bona fide 40-goal scorer to play on his wing. People who say he doesn't play defense obviously don't watch his games and are just regurgitating a lazy stereotype. That said, Semin strikes me as a me-first player who isn't the kind of guy you win with. He's also going to demand top dollar.

The media in DC has been pretty lax overall with Semin. Philly's media would tar and feather him in a manner that will be remembered for ages.

Lavys system requires defensive forwards and players who go all out at all times which semin doesn't do half of the time, I would only take him if it was for 3 million which there's no way that's happening
