Good news for Staal. Opens a spot up for him when/if his team gets eliminated. OHL Playoffs begin tonight.

I thought he was to young to be eligable for the AHL, he can however get a spot on the Rangers when his OHL team is eliminated, no?

He can play on the Rangers or the AHL when his season is over. Dawes did that when he was 18 or 19 years old as well.

Talk about finding the bright side in a situation, I think this is terrible because you never know how someone as young as Baranaka handles an injury situation.

I don't find it quite that concerning either

Montoya had a broken wrist earlier in the year as well. Sat out about a month, came back, and all was forgotten. It's not a nagger like a knee or shoulder injury might be either.

Like Romba said..its only the hand. So I wouldn't get overly worried. If it was a knee or something then i'd be a little more down. Baranka should make it back in time for the end of the 1st round or start of the 2nd round of the playoffs....Pack should hopefully go pretty deep.

not wrist, broken finger on his catching hand. not good injury for a goalie.

Not good for Baranka. Hope he heals quickly. But as has been stated, a great opportunity for Staal.

Baranka broke his hand...

fighting? Must've been one heck of a punch. Didn't know the kid had that in him. He'll get over it; not too worried. It's not a knee, shoulder or other type of injury. Just unfortunate timing for him.

A hand is not as dangerous as a knee or something. Its not good and the timming is bad, but he will get over it. Hand/wrist injurys can be dangerous if you keep playing with them but that won't be the case here.

At least with a broken hand, he can keep skating and stay in shape. Much rather break a hand than injure a knee.

I'd say they were discussed at the same time. Plus the topic has moved on in the Prospecs thread.
