“They’re hot at blocking shots. We might be able to hurt a few guys [by] hitting one-timers in the foot and their head or something,” goalie Martin Brodeur said after the Devils were blanked 3-0 in Monday’s Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals.

They have no reason to.

However when Ottawa gooned it up in Game 2 it was easily the worst the Rangers have been shown up this season, so I wouldn't blame them. I was almost embarrassed to be a Ranger fan after that game, we got clobbered in our own game.

Yeah, and for a long time now they have been a smart team.

I mean, there is very little to gain -- in the long run -- by gooning it up against a team. In perspective to that one team, you can of course gain a advantage. But there is 15 teams in the Conference and a team "gooning it up" in the long run often seem to just get a big amount of injuries themselves.

Is that all he did? Wow I have seen some retarded stuff here but that takes the cake.

Back on topic:

No they aren't going to goon it up. The Flyers are a much dirtier team infraction wise and the Devils turned the other cheek. They go about their business very professional, so no, no goonery.

Brodeur has always been a ****** bag. It comes across in everything he does and says. He really should be punched in his face. When I said the Devils go about their business professionally, I clearly didn't include fatso.

...and why wouldn't they think that? The difference in Game 1 is the Rangers converted their opportunities and the Devils didn't, it wasn't like the Devils were out of the Rangers league...I hate the Devils as much as the rest of you, but I can look at them objectively.

Makes absolutely no sense for the Devs to dress Janssen or Boulton. Or loose Clark to the penalty box.

Goon it up should never be confused with being hard on the puck.

Highly doubt the Devils will 'goon it up' in the traditional sense of the words. But I do believe they will do everything they can to disrupt Hank, including running him if possible, getting into his face every time he freezes the puck, 'falling' on him if a Ranger pushes a Devil near the crease, etc.

That definitely threw us off our game but if the Devils try that in game 2 I think the Rangers will definitely be ready for it this time

That didnt happen.

Exactly my thoughts. Brodouche, has always shown the ability to come off like the game revolves around him. He should just retire with Genevieve, the sister of his previous wife that he married and reflect about what a class act he is.

The subject needs it's own Thread. I posted this about it in another thread.

the Devils will continue to play the game that got them to the conference finals. No chance they goon it up, or do anything else outside of their game plan.

They are only one game down....an away game. Even if they loose tonight, they will have two games at home to try and tie the series. If they loose tonight, and they loose one at home, they may try something drastic. But not in game two.

I doubt they goon it up much. They feel that they controlled play in the first 2 periods and I am sure playing that hard for 60 minutes is higher on their list than goon business
