Meant to say missed posts and shots. Sorry my auto spell has a tendency to make words disappear for some reason.

Edit: shots/scoring opportunities, same thing.

so you are one of those guys that thinks everything would have happened exactly the same way if they won game 5?

I think that is horses poop.

Honestly, I never got that point of view. It is like saying your life would be exactly the same if your parents did conceive you.

Rangers > Caps, because, well the Ranger eliminated the Caps

end thread/

Although it goes in cycles, it is a matchup driven league and with the exception of the three dynasties, it has been since expansion. Look at the late sixties through the mid 70s as an example. Among the Bruins, Habs, Rangers and Hawks, the Bruins could beat the Rangers and Hawks. The Habs could beat the Bruins. The Rangers could beat the Habs. The Hawks screw up the equation by not being able to beat the Rangers, but that was almost a rock vs rock stalemate.

Fair enough. We had our blown opportunities too. They didn't come too often which made it even more painful.

All I know is that if the Islanders played every team they face like they play an Atlantic division rival they would most def make the playoffs.

If there's anything I've learned from the playoffs, it's that short sample sizes are irrelevant when assessing the qualities of individuals and teams.

I think the real solution is for the Islanders opponents to wear Red Wings jerseys every game. The Isles would be unstoppable.
