@farhandevji: Jason Garrison tells @News1130Sports the #Canucks will be high on his list if he doesn't re-sign with the #Panthers. Sign me up.
@News1130Sports: Garrison says he grew up watching the Canucks, says it would be a thrill playing for the hometown team.
@News1130Sports: Garrison says he wants to be back in Florida but his agent hasn't talked to the Panthers lately.
@News1130Sports: Garrison made paltry 675,000 last season. In for huge raise whoever signs him. If he hits market - VAN will be high on his list.
@News1130Sports: Garrison tells us that signing with the Canucks would be a dream come true but will try 1st to re-sign with FLO.
@News1130Sports: FLO deeman and White Rock native Jason Garrison tells us - it would be a dream come true to sign with Canucks if he's a u-f-a July 1st. .
@ThomasDrance: On Garrison re-signing in Florida, the Panthers have ~15 million in cap space tied up in just three defenseman (Jovo, Campbell, Gudbranson).
With all that being said; I wouldn't offer him any more than Boychuk got with the B's. 3.36 for 3 years.
One year doesn't mean much. Could be Meester V.2 at a lower cap hit.
Personally I'm a bit wary of Garrison. We need a player to complement Edler (assuming we keep Alex) and I don't think Garrison is that player. I also think he will be viewed as overpaid by whomever eventually signs him.
Well, we sorely lacked a true puck mover. Edler replaced Ehrhoff's points but really missed having a guy who can carry the puck and a guy who can get pucks through traffic. It would be a good signing at the right price.

Signing him at 3.36 - 3.5 and getting 8-10 G and 15-25 A out of him at 20-22 min per game would be worth it.
Honestly don't know much about him other than his stats and his current cap hit. Looks like he has potential to sign a respectable deal this summer if negotiations with Florida fall through.
I hope Gillis is pursuing this guy. He would really compliment our style of play. Smooth skating and sound defensively. With some offensive flair to go with it. Count me in.

LOL he's asking for a minimum of 4.5M from Florida, who is still his top destination. If he hits the open market he's going to get close to 5M, if not more.

3-4M on 3-4years.
Yup. I would try and sign Gill to a 2 year contract too.

Obviously the Canucks are high on his wish list. A White Rock, BC native has a chance to go closer to home and play for an elite hockey team, for decent money also.
Dan Hamhuis did it in 2010, I think Garrison will go to Vancouver.
Even if Gillis contacts him on July 1st, he won't offer more than 4.5M per imo. That's how this team cap structure is and Gillis won't try to break it just to sign him.

i didnt realize all a team had to do to qualify as an "Elite" was win a division and win one playoff game. You must be redundant then since panthers are on the same footing as the canucks.

He's not a puck mover -- he has a really good shot.

I'm sure it has more to do with previous years then just this year specifically. No matter what they did this year (while missing D.Sedin) they are still seen as an elite team.
The problem is you're focusing on the things in life that don't really matter. When I was a kid I had hopes and dreams. We all did. But over time, the daily grind gets in the way and you miss the things that really matter, even though they are right in front of you, staring you in the face. I think the next time you should ask yourself "Am I on the right track here?". I don't mean to be rude but people like you I really pity. So maybe you could use the few brain cells you have and take advantage of the knowledge I have given you now. Good luck.
