haha .... i finally figured out what you do, and why it seems like you cannot understand anything i write.

nearly every post you make is "so, what you're trying to say is ....", and then you re-phrase the 'quote' & spin it just a bit into something else, and then you question why i 'said' that .... [which, of course, i never really said]

it's pretty amusing to see that you are essentially arguing against yourself. [or, at the very least, against something you made up]

it's pretty clear what i meant: seeing how NYR played shut down team D, and limited the shots against, that appears to be the way to defeat NJ. it's so 'amazing' because only a week ago, many here, along with the Flyers themselves seemed to 'have no answer' as to how to beat NJ .... it just takes harder work & shut down Team D / limited shots against.

^ Really, you don't think Lundy is the reason the are winning? Come on now, Lundy is about 1000000000x better then Bryz will ever be. If that team succeeds its because of him, just like LA and Quick. Look at the four remaining teams, only one really can say they haven't had a dominating performance from their goalies. Quick, Lundy, and Smith are the main reasons those teams are where they are right now. They played out standing during the first two rounds.

Lundqvist and Quick are miles and miles better then Bryzgalov.
I could care less about the system either team employs. its not much of a factor with either guy.

While they're both good goalies, I'd beg to differ that their systems aren't a factor. When you play a team oriented game and not allowing a lot of shots to get through to the goaltender, it matters. Watch a Rangers game and look how many sticks and bodies they get on almost every shot. I'm sure it's incredibly frustrating for opposing teams.

so what are you saying? Lundqvist and Quick would do no worse then Bryzgalov if they were here? or if Bryz was in LA or the Rangers?

I believe you meant "no better". But yeah, while I believe Lundqvist and Quick are better goaltenders in general, I don't think they would do well in Philly, and Bryz would be succeeding in those systems. Case in point being Bryz in Phoenix and now Mike Smith. When you base your system around your defense and not your offense the goalie is going to reap the rewards.

you can have another Flyers goalie debate thread if you like.
my comments of:

have zero to do with the goaltending [which was the only area the Flyers outplayed NJ]

my comments are about NYR's hard work / Team D / limited shots against.
if you want to discuss that, fine. if you want to debate goalies, you'll do so without me .. that's a broken record.

Pretty silly Hanzel only got one game for his hit against Brown while Giroux got one game as well. In my opinion the Hanzel hit was more dangerous than the Giroux hit, but they got the same punishment.

Pretty much, and if that is the case, someone needs to finally get into that position that can do the damn job. Silly stuff going on in those offices anymore

It took Game 6 and Game 7 overtime wins for New Jersey to beat Florida, a team that plays nothing like New York.

Henrique is going to be a great player in this league for a long time. He reminds me a lot of Zajac and Couturier, big guys that are both phenomenal two way players.

Devils always seem to scout and develop what seem like obscure players initially. Lamoriello really established a winning culture in the old montreal mold. Even last year that second half they had was impressive...

when FLA played like NYR & limited the shots, they beat NJ.

NJ had vs FLA in 4 wins:
38 shots, 27, 42 ,36 = 35.75 shots on goal a game

NJ had 25, 25, 30 in their 3 losses 26.70

sure looks like the way to beat NJ is to limit those shots

CBC: "the inability of NJ to get shots through is the key" .... "they are trying to deflect shots in front"

Really? 27 shots is a perfectly allowable amount to give up.

They made their way to the ECF while allowing 27.8 shots per game. 27 shots allowed seems to be working just fine for them.
