Saw this posted on another forum, pretty interesting.

Quote:
The last SCF before the lockout pitted a Sutter-coached team vs a Tortorella-coached team, with Brad Richards winning the Conn Smythe

Holy crap. Just realized that the Kings have only allowed 16 goals in 11 games. Are you ****ing kidding me? Wow.

Vintage Kings hats are actually all over the place right now. I saw a ton of them in LA and they're here in Sweden, too.

It feels like there was more buzz about the team in 2001 during those epic Detroit and Colorado series.
I disagree with the 2001 comparison.
I had more people commenting on the Kings garb and talking about the series in the first round alone than I heard in both rounds combined in 2001. And the buzz has grown in each round.
I had a state exam prep class the day of Game 4 in the Stl series. Half the class was talking about the Kings we weren't allowed to have internet in the class, but everytime someone went to the bathroom they would tell us the score.
Just about everyone at my work talked to me about last night's game this morning.
For me this has been 100x the buzz of 2001.

Hope you can pull off 6 more. For my man Willie Mitchell.
Right on man. Thanks for the kind words.
Back in the days I was a huge fan of Sergio. Unfortunately he (or Ronning) would always torch us.

They actually talked about the Kings for about 90 seconds on the radio here today after a sports update mentioned how they were up 2-0, the host was just saying how unprecedented this run has been so far for the Kings. I said to myself "I wonder if Steve Hartman will spend 90 seconds on the Kings today"

I was at a gas station in Woodland Hills on Monday. My car has a Kings license plate frame and I have a window flag on it right now. I didn't realize it but the guy on the other side of the pump was talking to me about the Kings. I was totally taken aback as that seems to never happen. Most fun I've ever had pumping gas at a gas station! We talked the whole time (well, the 5 minutes we were both there). It weirdly made my day. LOL It's fun to have the city buzzing about the Kings, as well as the hockey world.

Love his response to the, "Do you think they roll right to a Cup win" (or something like that). Some people are not fans of Cherry, but I'm a fan of the guy. I grew up tuning in every Saturday to HNIC to watch Coaches Corner. Maybe it's nostalgia, but I honestly will be sad the day he retires. It's like when Bob Cole retires. It's part of your youth that comes to an end.
I'm sure Kings fans that have grown up listening to Bob Miller can relate.

He's entertaining and quotable. Let's just leave it at that.

It's funny, I never cheered for Gretzky until he was a King for some reason (and I wasn't a Kings fan, I guess I never liked him in Edmonton) but really wanted the Kings to beat the Habs. I still remember the "Penalty Call" by Demers.

Tomas Sandstrom was one of my favorites too back then. Tough customer.

Times like these actually bring back good memories.
