Its unforced clears from the corners. It would be one thing if the Ranger is going to get crushed, but most of the time there isn't a forechecker in sight.
Dmen/Center whatever, should close the gap to the blueline and then try to make a clear.
The more I think about it: I think the reason why we see so many clears from the corners is that they are trying to lessen the momentum of the puck. The forcing the enemy to grab possession and not get a turn over. The closer they are to the blue line it might increase the chance of an icing call. Honestly, its the only thing I can think of.
