I'm gonna let off a rant here but I'm sick of Gaborik. Explain to me why a guy who has 3 goals in 21 playoff games with us if I'm correct should not be benched? He can be such a ***** at times, he's always afraid to take a hit to make a play, he shies away from any physical contact, and if he isn't scoring he's useless. I'm tired of his lazy efforts on the boards because he's a wimp. And for the record Anisimov got the extra ice time when he was benched not the "grinders". A message needed to be sent and I agree with the benching. Look I'm not advocating a team full of grinders, I just want Gaborik to grow a pair and play better
I notice that basic puck handling skills seem to go by the wayside lately. I feel that a lot of players a rushing to get a pass off and they're fanning (Stepan, Girardi, Bickel come to mind) on the puck and not completing a pass or producing turnovers
yea....we handled the puck like we were paying with 7 irons out there. Pretty atrocious.......and we're talking about basic stuff like you said. Just svcks because we shoulda had this game. But we shot ourselves in the foot too many times tonight.......
what i dont understand is the total lack of urgency for the rest of the third period? you have over 18m of time to tie it up. you're only down 1 friggin goal, where is the urgency to score?
This passive approach when we're down in the third is just baffling to me. We wanted to win this game easy, with little effort. The rangers weren't willing to do what it takes to win this game. They played content to tie the series. It showed in every aspect of their game, and i just don't get it.
EVERYONE has. You can't hold one person accountable, regardless of his role, if everyone is having the same problem.
I don't know, I thought Krieder was strong on the forecheck tonight. Anismov of all players was doing really good job chasing down pucks this game. Richards was trying to get involved but he isn't dominant forechecker anyways.

Kreider is a keeper. On one play he hit the post and 20 seconds later he broke up the play in the Rangers zone.

Artie has been hit or miss...tonite he took a terrible hooking call (though stopping a scoring chance in a defensive position) but game one he deserved his EN goal...he was great.

Deserves another quote. If Kreider, who is a rookie, played this way, he'd never see another game, let alone another shift.
rewind to game one against the sens, take away cally then take away gabby and see which team gets further...not even close cally contributes more than gabby does, not even close.
yeah he was solid in that game, but that was two rounds ago. Cally has been MIA since about game 3 of the Caps series.
Because he's drawing the defensive focus of the other team? Because the Devils are keying in/placing extra emphasis on stopping him?
Also, the attempt to discredit all of his points as soft is laughable. 10 points in 16 games in the playoffs is impressive, and it's certainly more than, say, Callahan has. He's not a physical warrior like Jarome Iginla, but to say that he hasn't done much is absurd.
please......you can't sell nor tell me otherwise. Gabby has DONE NOTHING on this team other thatn what I mentioned. He goes down if you LOOK at him the wrong way.......
Agree, Hossa can be a bull and plays more of a North American style
I was just talking to my brother about this -- Hossa fits this Rangers' squad style so much better than Gaborik does. While I wouldn't advocate signing him for that ridiculous 12 year contract...he'd be an ideal winger on this team. Versatile too, plays the left and right both quite well.

I've given this guy every off season to to bulk up and become what he should be. A power forward. He has one more off season to start lifting weights or hang around with Ovetchkin and take some Steroids.
I think Callahan is really banged up right now. He's the same player he usually is.
Possibly, but I don't think its enough to explain his complete lack of forechecking ability. I mean it can't be much of excuse compared to the punishment guys like McD and Girardi are taking.
Not sure why this has become a Cally vs. Gabby thing, and honestly, it's starting to look like a "North American vs. Euro" type argument. Neither of them are above criticism and both have been inconsistent in the playoffs. Both have room for improvement, IMO.
actually....Forsberg was the only Euro that played with that "Snarl', "Grit", "Edge", "Character"....or whatever you wan't to call it. Wish we could buy some of that for our Euro guy
Then again......Forsberg was Swedish (Scandanavian) so he doesn't even count...
