Who wouldn't want him...he's not terrible, he's young. He has some work to do, but he isn't some clod out there.

I'm not trading JVR for him though, and he certainly isn't the same class as Pietrangelo, OEL, Hedman, ect.

If we traded Bob I'd be happy because he could finally take the starting job

Explain to me again why the Leafs would want Bob? For Schenn no less?

Yes, depending on what it took to get him.

At the very least I think you get a Brendan Witt type that will be a b*tch to play against and is very physical for a long steady career.

Yeah...that's why I didn't vote. The poll doesn't really make a lot of sense.

Toronto has a few prospects who are just as promising as Bob, as well as Reimer, etc. They also figure to be a player in free agency, so a guy like Josh Harding could be an option.

If they are going to move Schenn for a goalie, it would be Luongo, not Bob.

Realistically, JVR is the player that Toronto would want. They aren't going to move Schenn for Bob or our 1st (or any other combination of picks and non-NHL prospects).

Schenn? I did want the Flyers to acquire him, but Grossmann makes him redundant. Flyers need to focus on a real #1, and Schenn would be pretty pricey to be playing 3rd line D minutes.

And Burke wouldn't touch Bob with a 10' pole as a potential starter. They just failed with 2 underperforming young goalies; why would Burke take a chance on another?

Not really. I mean maybe if he was offered to us at a stupidly cheap price, but IMO he's not worth what they would ask for in a trade.

Yea, that and we can get a backup that makes a bit less. Only question I have is... would the leafs want/need bob?

He makes $3.6 for 4 more years, used in a defensive role? Sounds like Grossmann. Sure, he's a right-handed shot but we have enough money tied up in our blueline and I would rather get someone off of the FA market without giving up assets. Garrison, Wideman, etc.

For Bob maybe. But overall, I'd say no because I don't really trust him. He seems to have too many mental lapses.

Resounding no. He was 7th in average ice time for the 2nd worst defensive team in the league. Toronto doesn't trust him, why should the flyers. His cap hit stinks for what you get and the Flyers need guys who can shoot and move the puck without turning it over. Vastly overrated cause he plays for Toronto.

If Bob is the centerpiece, then yes. If it was JVR, it would depend on the whole deal, I think I'd need another NHL player or high draft pick, because otherwise we'd be selling low on him.

No. The Flyers added the physical stay at home defender they needed when they added Grossmann.

Consider also, unless you ended up in Calgary, how many Leafs left Toronto and flourished? At least more than they did in Toronto.

I've read this elsewhere, and I really don't think I buy it.

This team needs as many defensive defenseman as it can find. Schenn might not have lived up to his 2/3 draft billing, but he's a strong, physical shot-blocker. His salary is a bit of a concern, but Timonen will be gone after next season, and I don't see us being a serious player for Suter.

Schenn + 2012 2nd (34th overall, if NJD forfeit their pick) is probably fair value for JVR at this point.

Maxime Talbot ($1.750m) / Sean Couturier ($1.375m) / Matt Read ($0.900m)

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $69,000,000; CAP PAYROLL: $62,346,944; BONUSES: $3,555,000
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $6,653,056

That would put a bit of pressure on the third-line to produce offensively, unless we sign another forward with that cap space...

Even if you stand pat, you're left with a pair of top-35 picks to restock the prospect pool, or you could even explore a deal to move up. Heck, you could probably package the 20th, 34th, and Bob to Tampa to jump all the way to 10.

Idk I feel JVR is too soon to give up on, I would be pissed if he went to Toronto and scored 30 goals

Schenn is not that good. He can't anchor a defense pair and when he's forced to play against scoring lines, he's too slow to handle them

He'll be the new whipping boy if we acquire him

I voted other. I certainly wouldn't mind him on the team but I am not calling Toronto begging for him. If they call, I'd listen. I'd trade JVR in a deal for Schenn, but I don't think I would do it straight up.

I voted to trade Bob for Schenn, though I really don't see that as a realistic option. Still, a top-6 d-core looking like this wouldn't be so bad :

Suter - Timonen
Grossmann - Coburn
Schenn - Meszaros
