Its not like Voracek really has any options for not returning, he's a RFA, and nobody is signing him to a contract we can't/won't match.

Voracek had a year from learning from one of the greatest players hockey has seen and Jagr is the exact type of player Jake needs to turn in to, and he has all the talents and potential to do it IMO.

Regardless if the Flyers decide to bring back Jagr or not, Voracek is the guy that needs to fill that role for the future, meaning another skilled guy that can play on the top line with Giroux and a grinder type player like a Hartnell. I think if the Flyers let him slip away or trade him, it'd be an awful move for their future.

Also, they would be wiser to go after a dman or two.
I don't know if he was hurt, but he was a scratch the first two games and played under 11 mins/game after that.

He's a big strong guy, and we could use one of those, but they'd have to know what it would take to get him going again.

It was mainly due to him sucking all season. He had as many goals in 26 games last year with the Blues as he had all season (79 games).

I would imagine Voracek wants term & a decent amount of money, but I but he's happy in Philly and probably pleased with his role in the team and the way the team is headed. He'll sign, but who knows for how much and how long and how late into the offseason.

I actually think Stewart would be a decent reclamation project and could play a nice role on this team. That said, Voracek carries more value.

Yea, for sure. I wouldn't mind having Stewart on the roster - he still has a high ceiling. But Voracek definitely carries more value, so the purpose of this thread is silly.

Their primary need is a top-4 / secondary top-pairing LH defenseman.

Maybe you could sell them on something around Meszaros, who would pair well with either Pietrangelo or Shattenkirk, but I don't see where Stewart fits on this team, given his salary, etc.

Yeah no thanks. Jake really came on hard towards the end of the season and was consistently one of our best all around players on the ice thereafter.

Just like any core player on this team, they should not be looked at as trade possibilities unless a top flight defenseman or defensive prospect is coming back.

His salary would be about 3.5 mil after a 10% raise with the rfa qualifier. I think attitude and work ethic were his downfall which to me is nothing too out of the ordinary for young players nowadays, especially ones who have immediate success in the league. I like the Mezz deal if they would take it.

I quess I have a lower opinion than most flyers fans in regards to Voracek. I see 2nd line winger max with his production and questionable finishing skills, like Tuomo Ruutu. Stewart if he can mature a bit has 1st line power forward potential with excellent finishing ability.

Stewart is the better goal-scorer (and my physical player), but Voracek is the superior passer, and a much, much better defensive forward.

On a good team, they are probably both second line wingers if they reach their potential--but Voracek is the more versatile option.

(That's setting aside maturity issues, etc.)

Matt Carle's rights for Stewart. I really don't want him. We've got enough wingers.

Jake plays puts 150% into every shift, always busting his ass. Might not get the results, but that work ethic makes me want him locked down.

Apparently, Simmonds and Stewart are again planning to live together this offseason as they've done the last several years.

No. I love watching Jake wheel the puch through the neutral zone, I just wish he could finish better.

I wouldn't trade Voracek for anything at the moment. He's a fantastic player and I hope he's on the black and orange for a long long time.

Maybe we could work something around Booth. he can protect Bryz from bears!

In all seriousness is Voracek available or is it all hogwash? If he is what would it take to get him?

To even consider it, it would probably have to be a similarly aged defenseman with comparable upside. Someone that can play next season and compete for a spot in our second pairing.
