5 trades I want to see happen this offseason

1. Vinny Lecavalier to Calgary

Want too see Vinny in a hockey mad market. Always have

2. Halak to Toronto for Schenn

Toronto needs a goalie and St Louis needs a young def, other pieces will have to be included

3. Boston trades Dougie Hamilton, 1st round pick, prospect to Edmonton for 1st overall ( yakupov)

Boston gets an elite scorer to play with Seguin for years to come, Edmonton gets there Def stud

4. Rick Nash to San Jose

Anyone else want to see jumbo joe pass to a goal scorer like Nash

5. Jordan Stall to Carolina,

Jordan gets to be a top 6 forward finally and gets to play with his brothers

I'm pretty sure STL will want to see another year of solid performance from Elliot before they move Halak.

I'd be more inclined to say J.Staal plays with brother not brother(s)

Unless we are talking drills in camp then Jared might be around to take a pass or two

Nice little backhanded insult to Tampa Bay there. And I find it interesting that you didn't bother to try to come up with a return to TB.

Oh, wow. Even if that was anywhere near fair value, and even if there weren't questions about whether or not Elliot can sustain this kind of performance, St. Louis badly needs left-shot defensemen; they're massively overcrowded on the right. Simply g-dawful.

I don't see why Boston would go for this, considering the pedigree Hamilton has and Chara's age.

Yeah, yeah, wonderful. What's Columbus getting back, again?

And Pittsburgh will be obliged to take back... what? Trades require the cooperation of both teams, y'know.
(Also, since when did Jared actually play in an NHL game?)

I would probably do that from an oilers point of view but some of my fellow oiler fans might not. I'm a big fan of Hamilton.

Don't see the Blues trading either goalie, both are signed for cheap for 2 more yrs. If either was traded now it would be Elliott anyways as Halak has a better playoff record and it would not involve Schenn.

Only one trade did you come up with an entire proposal. What's Staal going to Carolina for? What's Vinny going to Calgary for?

To TBL: Miikka Kiprusoff, Matt Stajan
To CGY: Vincent Lecavalier, 2nd in '12

Vinny's contract will be hard to move (not because Vinny is a bad player, but just due to the length/his age).

Stajan had a strong 2nd half to last season (he finally looked like an NHL player in Calgary!, once he actually got ice time, surprise surprise). He wouldn't be a bad 2nd/3rd line centre behind Stamkos as Stajan's defensive game has definitely grown (due to the role Brent Sutter put him in).

Dougie Hamilton is probably worth just as much as Yakupov ATM. Absolutely asinine notion of trading him, PLUS their 1st PLUS another prospect for a guy that hasn't played a pro game yet.

Umm, Hamilton hasn't played a pro game yet either. The Oilers have no reason to trade Yakupov for anything short of an overpay. That means Hamilton+Rask. We are NOT trading Yakupov away for fair value.

Thornton already played with such a goalscorer in Dany Heatley, neither improved their stats, as a matter of fact, they got worse. The Sharks have zero need for a player who takes up as much cap-space as Nash does, especially at the price columbus will demand for him.

Sure. Jeff Skinner will look great as Sid's winger next year

Roflcopter. Argument self-destruction

Yakupov definitely has more value than Hamilton. It's not all that close.

Jordan Staal's best interests are to wait and see what is best offer. NYR will certainly make one and he'd be a great fit here w/bro Marc.

That means that if Pens trade him beforehand (doubt they will) it'd be foolish for anyone, including Canes, to pay price for him as if he were long term reasonable contract.

Based on your logic, how can either of Yakupov or Hamilton have more value than the other... if neither have played an NHL game yet?

Potential. Yakupov has greater potential than Hamilton

I would love to see Patrick Kane get traded while is value is at an all time low, then watch Hawk fans have a meltdown while tearing his poster off the way screaming "Why Stan, just why?".

Vinny has already started on downside of his career. He'll be paid like a star player until something like 2019. I can't see any club taking that on

Sharks fans really don't want Nash unless the return is something minimal like Clowe + Niemi, Pick/prospect. Even then, don't really want his salary. So no, pass.

Trading for Lecavalier, regardless of the assets moved, would be a disaster for the Flames. Lecavalier would get eaten alive in a hockey town.

I would LOVE to get Halak, but it isn't happening. Elliot had a solid regular season, but it was under the most defensive team in the league. He's never had great numbers before, and he didn't play well in the post season. He could very well be a flash in the pan.

Halak on the other hand carried a crappy Montreal team to the Conference finals, which shows he can play well under immense pressure (one of the biggest markets in the league). I'm sure St. Louis wants at least another solid year out of Elliot before they consider moving Halak. And if they did move Halak, I think they'd want more than Schenn (unfortunately).
