Why gut the Preds just because Suter doesn't re-sign?

so if Suter's rights is worth a 2nd or 3rd rounder, how about this:

Suter and Weber for JVR, Voracek, Mez and the rights to Carle.

Thoughts?

Hate on him? He flew away to the KHL while still under contract with Nashville. Then, when he returns, he breaks curfew during the playoffs when the team was on a great run. The team never recovered and are now out.

He deserves every bit of "hate" he gets.

I could see Suter's rights for Marc-Andrea Bourdon. Suter is an UFA and MAB is an RFA. It's right around what they got for Hamhuis from us, but MAB can actually play hockey. Parent suffered some bad back injuries and hasn't recovered. Or I could see us trading Harry Zolnierczyk for his rights as well and maybe a later round pick.

As for your deal I would do that in a heart beat. Maybe throw in a couple of draft picks and a prospect from Nashville. Maybe Austin Watson, or Mattias Ekholm.

I might take one of JVR/Voracek out and add two first rounders though.

So the deal would be:

Suter and Weber

For

JVR/Voracek, Mez, Carle's rights and 2 first rounders. (maybe even put Harry Z or Bourdon in the trade)

In Nashville fans quest to find that number one center, this is the same Joe Pavelski who had 8 more points than David Legwand, despite Legwand playing with guys much less skill, correct?

And you can trade Weber for a boatload more than those two from Philly.

Harry Z and Bourdon have next to no value in a trade for guys of Weber and Suter's calibre. I think you'd have to include one of Courturier/Schenn if you're trading for Weber.

I would gladly put Schenn in a trade for Weber.

Suter's rights are not worth that much. If anyone give you a 1st or 2nd for his rights, they made a bad trade. It's only his rights, he can leave and not sign for anything. Now if we were allowed to negotiate with him prior to the trade then I can see a 1st or 2nd being on the table.

Well would Nashville do this for Weber alone?

Two 1st rounders, Schenn, Coburn/Mez, 3rd rounder?

People also have to understand that teams will not gut their teams for Weber. They won't get the world for him but they can get pretty good value back for him.

Players like Weber dont grow on trees.
What grows on trees?

Things that:

A) Are about to fall

or

B) Are about to be plucked

If I were Nashville... JVR, 1st, Mezaros and Bob (or whatever the Flyers can get for him early 2nd or late 1st), would be a pretty good haul given the risk of losing him for nothing.

That argument would be much more effective if the Sharks weren't 13th in G/G while Nashville was 8th.

not if you don't realize how irrational some red fans are with what legwand brings to the table
