Backup goalies DO get their names on the cup. He's on the roster and dressed for the game.

A little misleading. Yes, technically since 2008, but Drewiske has 106 out of a possible 328 NHL game since them, mostly missed due to being a scratch. Westgarth has really only been a King since 2010-2011 and once again, missed most of the games due to being a healthy scratch. These guys may have been loyal, but the Kings clearly haven't viewed their contributions as special in a long time, if ever. Why sould they now suddenly value them enough to bump out someone whom the team clearly did view what they brought as important? Not to mention almost everyone who you'd bump form the lineup (Richardson, Clifford, Lewis, etc.) have played more games as a King than Drewiske and Westgarth anyways.

Gagne definately, and maybe Loki if he missed a few games with injury this year, but I see zero grounds to argue for Drew and Westy. They didn't qualify because LA didn't dress them, not because of injury. The only one I can see added is Gagne.

Thanks guys, I thought you actually had to play in 41 games or minimum one game of the finals.....not just be dressed and on the roster.

No, the NHL has rules for the cup. The Kings can CHOOSE to give a championship ring to anyone they want.

I have always wondered if teams give their black aces rings, anyone know?

Should Drewiske go in, maybe giving one of our veteran D some rest? Or maybe dress 7 defensemen?

What about Westgarth? If you look at the ice time for our 4th line last night, a couple of those guys (Nolan & Clifford) only got 5 minutes & change. Would playing Westgarth for 5.5 minutes really be that terrible? The Yotes played stupid Bissonette last night and weren't hurt by it.

And then there's Gagne, who probably won't be ready by Sunday, but one never knows.

And if we're up 5-1 heading into the 3rd period, should Bernier play that final period, just to spare Quick the possibility of injury? (I think Bernier would still get his name on the Cup, BTW ....I'm just sayin'.)

All I'm saying is, it's the dream of most every hockey player to get their name on The Stanley Cup. That being the case, should Sutter consider this fact when putting together his game 4 roster, being up 3-0 in the series before the Final Series? There would be no better time than Sunday, seeing as how the Final series would be much, much riskier.

Gagne can get his name on the cup if the Kings win by a petition from the team. Boston did it with Savard after his concussion left him out of the playoffs, Kings could do same and I would hope the NHL would agree since he did play in the regular season.

In every playoff game you play, no matter the circumstances, you ice your best lineup. Period.

I think it only applies to goaltenders. If you read how Unger's iron man streak ended in this news article: http://news.google.com/newspapers?ni...pg=7228,782103 it apparently doesn't apply to skaters who sit on the bench but don't actually touch the ice.

And, for the record, I think that was a VERY d-bag move but MacNeil to bench Unger for the whole game that way.

As Sydor25 mentions it's up to the TEAM (KINGS) to give who they want championship rings. I would assume they'd give one to EVERY PLAYER who DRESSED for a game with the KINGS this season, but not sure EVERY Kings prospect "Black Ace" would get one ... say like Tyler Toffoli, hell he's barely played for the MONARCHS let alone the KINGS, but he might.

I have a buddy that used to be a higher up season ticket rep for the Ducks, and when the Ducks won the Cup , even HE got a ring, lots of the Staff got rings as well, so it's really all a matter of how willing and how generous the Kings Ownership and Management are as to who all gets a championship ring ... keep in mind this is AEG we're talking about

I am not sure what the number of games is for a goalie who does not dress in the playoffs, but I seriously doubt it's 41.

well of a lot of these guys, regardless of their injury, has helped LA throughout the regular season. DD44 scored a few goals this season to give us a couple of Ws, same goes for Gagne. As for Parse, well he's played a few games that we won. So to answer your question, they all contributed to this teams success. So my answer is yes! They should get their name on the cup!

What a jinx infused thread. Are you really being serious?

Dude... this is how it works.

A. Simple Rule: 41 regular season games (and still with team) or 1 SCF game= Name on Cup.
B. Teams then ask for additional. Lots of reasons. Guys scratched whole season. Guys who had careers ended early, ete ete.

So.... what this means is most of the guys you're wasting this thread and screwing with the hockey gods about are already going to have their names of the thing that we haven't won yet.

Mole hill, mountain, all that....

By the way... of course the backup goalies name gets on the cup. Honesty....

Actually what's even more annoying is that the poll is stupid! It's wrong. We aren't even in the final! Doesn't matter if someone plays the 4th game! That isn't a Finals game! lots of fail here....
