Brandon Dubinsky (right foot), on ice in non-contact jersey, left the ice as the Rangers began their formal practice.

It's hard to overestimate the importance of physical strength and conditioning in the playoffs. Erixon has never played an NHL playoff game, and his strength, physically, is his #1 weakness. Even with Eminger, he's played one game in the last, what, 4, 5 months? I doubt he can step in and be able to perform at a good enough level, physically, to replace Bickel. It's the definition of a Catch-22, and while it sucks to not have better options, it's what we're down to at this point. Let it be a lesson learned should we be knocked out in either of the next two rounds.
Exactly. Well said. As much as I'd like Eminger in over Bickel, it's a bad time to hope a guy won't show tons of rust and wont make a mistake because of timing or conditioning. At least with Bickel we know he can play 3-6 minutes without being a major liability and potentially be a physical factor. With a cold Eminger, we have no idea what we're getting. I could see him coming in and playing great, but I could also see him coming in and taking a really bad obstruction penalty because his timing isn't at playoff-game-level.

Zipay tweeted Dubinsky likely skated by himself the last few days. He wasn't at the Garden on Wednesday when the Rangers skated there. The Rangers were off yesterday. He could have skated by himself in Greenburgh on both days.

Kinda makes me think he'll be back for game 4, not game 5.

Edit: Especially if the Rangers lose tomorrow.

Great news.

Getting Dubi back will really help the PK and adds depth... so no more Fedotenko on line 3

Very happy about this. Dubinsky would thrive in this series. Hopefully he can get some ice time in.

Dubinsky was as useful as a poop flavored lollipop what makes anyone think he would "strive"

Because he is a physical body and strong on the PK. The Devils PP is extremely prone to giving up short handed goals. He could easily find a niche in this series.

Cause we remember the old Duby that used to provide some offense for this club.

great news that hes skating, means he's not far off, i was afraid his foot or a bone was broke

fact is hes skating means there is a great chance he will be back this series

i still have hope in duby, i know this season hes fallen, but hes alot better than some of our depth guys, plus he gets under players skins, and i always believed he would score a big goal if we were to win a cup

at the start of the playoffs i just always had a feeling he would be our "mateau" of 94

i got to know about two things on this board

-whats the deal with torts and aliens? whats the story behind that

-why so much hate for duby, i know his seasons has been flat, but the guy trys hard he fits the team mold, he has chemistry with this core, why all the hate? and why is he so hated by other teams?

He held out like he was some sort of really good player that the team just couldnt do without and then held the team hostage with the salary cap and is earning way more than he should be. Oh and since he got that contract he's been really bad and not come anywhere close to living up to it. Now had he not held out and took less money there would be no problem with him (ESP in my eyes) but he acted like he was gods gift to MSG and is taking up 2 million dollars of cap room that he just doesn't deserve. Hope that explains it

Saw Dubinsky today in the city, he was walking with a pretty severe limp (although without a walking boot and obviously no crutches). I'm not a Dr. but given how bad the limp was, seems like he is a while off...no?

I'd say soonest we would see him would be game 4 scf.... I'd say it's safe to say we won't see him again this year (and maybe again as a ranger )

if he skates at next practice he'll be in way before that. nobody wants to hold him back for 8-9 potential games if he can skate. as long as there is no set back i see him by game 6 of this series or 1 of the next. Probably replacing mitchell(likely) or rupp.

didn't see this though... could just be avoiding stressing it as much as possible... or he could be a lot further off than i expected.
