Only positive from this is that Ovechkin took Hunters teachings and played team first for Russia, he seems to have gotten back his love for the game.. and it carries onto next season..

Hunter didn't do **** for Ovechkin.
We are seeing real Ovi, not scrub Hunter telling one of the best players in the world how to play the game Ovi.
Ovechkin made a nice shot block late in the game. Semin played great defense all night, and you could easily tell they were happy to be there. Both were very noticeable and responsible.
Ovechkin never scores that goal today, if if was the actual season, just because DH didn't let them have any creativity or movement in the offensive zone.

I'm just as happy to see Ovechkin looking like his old self as anyone, but the notion that Ovechkin couldn't/wouldn't take anything away from Hunter's coaching just because he didn't agree or it wasn't his style is beyond stupid, and if Ovy actually thinks like that I'd be inclined to say he is one of the biggest problems with the Caps.
Chara can still be physical and smarter than the Finnish defense as far as coverage of Malkin. How Malkin got wide enough open for the hat trick goal is beyond me.

Dale Hunter would bench for taking the shot without looking where he is shooting.

Speed and great passing with Popov and Perezhogin, especially at the big ice, can easily neutralize Chara's size and physicality as he's not the most mobile defenseman.
Dear Ted,
I hope you've been watching your franchise player and his best bud at the Worlds. That is what they are capable of - solid hockey all over the ice - when provided a system that plays to their strengths. Rather than having Ovie play 15 minutes a night and letting Semin walk for nothing, perhaps you should get a management team that can select an experienced coach (before August) who believes in 3-zone hockey and can build a team around your talent.
But I am not so sure Laich Hendricks Beagle Brouwer Knuble Sarge Erskine and Hammer types would even have jobs. If we can make ballerina's out of mules, maybe it would be more entertaining.
Some people have no clue between the rink size in the World's and the rink size in the NHL and what it can do for players or how it can take space away from player (ie Semin). Oddly enough I don't see that much hitting or a grinding style in the World's either? Gee, I wonder why??
Liberation, I wonder how the rest of our team would look on the big ice? Probably not that good, but do the Caps play on a big, open pond or in a smaller confined space where there is a bit more hitting?
Welcome to the NHL, Semin. This isn't the big, open pond where you won't get hit or you don't have to play defense. GIVE IT A REST.
lol again with the semin doesn't play defense ********. I guess it's not just tools from other fanbases who form opinions on him without ever having seen him play

Well considering Semin was better than Datsyuk defensively adds to the stupidity of the statement.

If you consider back checking when you get the puck taken from you on the usual toe drag/inside out/or having the puck taken from you because your not strong enough on the puck to start with, YES SEMIN does back check. I know is he usually doesn't back check when he misses the net on one of his pin point shots, which is most of the time.
Don't let the door hit you where the good lord split you, lol. CYA
