im not against the idea of trading price in general, but the price would be as steep as it gets since he's the guy basically holding this franchise together.

A Vezina and an Olympic MVP is nothing to scoff at.

How fun would it be if, at the draft, a starter gets dealt, Eklund says "I told you so, this was the deal I was talking about", and then a real top goaler gets dealt in the next half hour...

10-15 is where I have Miller actually. When we are talking about top end goalies I'm thinking top 3, maybe top 5.

Thomas
Luongo
Rinne
and then the next tier
Price
Halak
Kiprusoff
Lehtonen
Howard
and based on this list, we know Luongo has been talked about, Thomas has been talked about, and if you go a tier down Kiprusoff has been talked about. Howard/Lehtonen/Halak really don't strike me as the types of goalies who would garner a huge "oh wow" type of tweet from Eklund. So, my conclusion is that it has to be either Price (who I've heard is asking for Rinne type money/term), or Pekka Rinne. I really can't see Lundqvist or Quick being shopped considering they're still playing and playing well these playoffs.

Even if we assume that most of those are bottom of the roster kind of guys.... that's not a lot of money.

I'm not sure that Backstrom is a "top" goalie. He's certainly a good goalie and would help out a lot of teams (Tampa being one). Then again, it makes sense given Minnesota's goaltending situation, and the fact that Eklund will want to hype his blogs with these sort of buzz words.
Backstrom to Tampa or even Toronto makes a lot of sense.

One more year at 6m isn't too bad. Depends on if Ohlund retires or goes on LTIR though. If he doesn't then it might be a tight fit. Most free agents are bottom roster guys, with the exception of us needing one top4 dman.
