Jack Edwards is paid to commentate on Bruins games by the New England Sports Network. Being unbiased isn't in his job description. Why would it be?

Being Kovalev 2.0 might appease some fans though.

They opted for a rebuild. They did alright. They could have lost in the 1st round if they didn't face an swiss cheese goalie.

In any event, the two guys they chose not to build around anymore were moved and could very well win the cup this year.

Trade two players, get 4 players out of it, sign a goalie, lose in the 2nd round to lower seeds.
The two players traded end up playing on the same team, behind other leaders and an actual goalie (Brown, Doughty, Quick), and they're 1 game away from the Finals while being the 8th seed.

I don't think it's all that difficult to realize why they look bad.
I don't think they look that bad.

They look bad for one thing and that is the signing of Bryzgalov.

We don't know exactly why they have to get rid of Carter and Richards, what we know is that they are 2 very good and relatively young players but the Flyers trade them away so they probably did something really bad.

Its not like the Flyers miss Carter's and Richards' offensive production that much. They have a pretty strong group of forwards with Giroux, Briere, Voracek, JVR, Simmonds, Hartnell, Couturier, Jagr, Read and Schenn. That is a ridiculous group of forwards.

Who knows what would happen if they have a goalie that actually stops puck and a healthy Pronger. It changes a lot.

Quick sv% is 950 in 11 games while Bryz is 890% in 11 games also. Swap the goalie and its a complete different story, it would make the Carter/Richards trade irrelevant. So the Flyers biggest mistake is still Bryzgalov, not the "remodeling".

im pretty sure he has a clause that stipulates he has to be as homerish as humanly possible.

i mean this is the guy that compared the bruins' game 7 overtime win to the american revolution.

no, im not kidding.

I know I'd certainly miss CBC HNIC on Saturday nights if it indeed goes away..
HNIC for me died when they took the french broadcast off the air. it was a sad day then. it took damn near ten years but i think RDS is doing an 'almost' as good a job as the french HNIC used to do.

as for CBC's HNIC? they can get bent. get cherry off the air? yes please.

if they didn't have some of the worst PBP and color guys in the business, i'd feel a bit sorry for the them...

so good riddance

Besides that, his Henry-Thornton fight was pretty terrible. I mean, calling Henry a scrub because he got into a fight with an enforcer. If it wasn't homerish enough, he mentions Thornton having a 'goal scoring resume'.

I wonder if Pouliot ever ran into Edwards. Would be funny had he heard what Edwards said about him only a few months prior.

What does the goalie have to do with anything? We're talking about the Carter and Richards trades.

And I don't quite understand how Philly looks bad here. The deal was not made for this year. It was made for the future.

Carter and Richards have different roles in LA. Carter has been invisible in the playoffs, but in come the "of the moment" posters who wait for him to get a hatrick tot alk about Philly looking bad. Would you rather have Voracek and Couturier or Carter for 10+ years? Mike Richards had a down year. Very good player, though. But lets not act like Richards and Carter are leading the Kings to the promised land. They are complimentary. It's really Brown, Quick, Kopitar and Doughty....

With Pronger out, Philly still have work to do on their backend and between the pipes.

Its not as bad as i think we're making it. A lot of the players the Flyers recieved are still young. By trading Carter and Richards, the Flyers gained more offensive depth, but lost their two-way play at the centre position. Richards and Carter have excellent defensive games. But there is still room to grow for Couturierer and Schenn to grow. The Flyers are looking long-term. Hopefully they fix their defense soon and get a system which employs team defense. I dont think an all out offensive team with an aggressive offensive system can work in the current mind-set of the nhl.

I agree that trade looks bad if LA wins the cup, since that is the goal, however, we shouldnt overlook the potential long-term benefits of that trade which are already starting to come to fruition with Couturier and Schenn developping well.

Wow!

Its like McDonagh is the Ranger mvp...

The guy seems to always be on the ice defending.

Tons of stamina.

Not enough offense. Need to get rid of him for a smurf playmaker. Feel the Gauthier-Gainey mojo sense.

Really impressed with Zubrus. Always liked him, he was just expected to score more but his defensive skills are strong.

IMO Hughson and Friedman do great work. I don't mind HNIC. I get annoyed at some of their cast, but the same goes for every network.

I'd be fine if Eller could be as good as Zubrus. Perfect 3rd line Centre.

Some crisp passing from the Devils recently. Sheesh...we never had that level of passing last season.

So Rangers up 2-1 games and they were outplayed in all three games. Rangers being saved by the goalie.

TSN picking up saturday night hockey is my dream come true. I freaking hate CBC's crappy pro-Boston and pro-Toronto agenda.

TSN's coverage is the best in the business, and if they could lure McGuire for the saturday night games... Whammo!!
