This team is not going to be the first to lose to a 14-game team in the conference finals.

Agreed. The first two periods were almost entirely Devils, and then the Rangers counter attacked after rope a doping all game.

That actually pisses me off more. No reason a goalie and his shot blocking defence should be leading us in a series by themselves.

Here's what I worry about. If they start going to the net I have absolutely no doubt that every time Lundquist is even looked at the wrong way he will flop, and they will take a penalty. During the regular season I'd have no problem with that. Throw Henrik off his game and let the PKers take care of the penalty. Unfortunately the PK is garbage now and the rags are the most opportunistic team in the league so they would undoubtedly score goals on the majority of their PP chances.

Actually, if any team was going to do it, this would probably be the one

I also blame Salvador for taking that stupid ****ing penalty. The Ranger wasn't going to play the puck anyways.

Devils may have had the scoring chances in the 2nd period but they were incredibly sloppy and falling apart compared to the 1st. They opened the door to what came in the 3rd.

They were lucky to get out of the final 5 minutes without getting scored on - momentum was tilted the other way right there. Start of the 3rd the Ranger built on that.

Something must be done about our second line. Elias and Sykora have been awful. Deboer needs to move one of parise and kovalchuk off of that line because the 2nd line cannot generate enough offense.

This is why I'm having a really hard time seeing the Devils winning this series now.

Exactly. Which is why Lundqvist is so grossly overrated.

It's TOUGH to be one of the best goalies in the world AND still somehow be overrated, but he is.

You put Lundqvist on a normal NHL team without a 100% concentration on defense, and he's a 2.40 GAA and .917 SVP guy. Which is about exactly what his stats were until the Rangers changed to defensive hockey a few years ago.

I just don't even know.

Bernier needs to take one for the team and just steamroll Lundqvist.

You see what I mean about time outs now? Pete should have called a time out on the second icing. Salvador was on for over 2 minutes I think. Our PK SUCKS a big one. Can't even kill off 2 penalties a game anymore? Against the Rangers brutal PP? I'm sure someone will blame Marty on that. He's always the scapegoat.

Pete's failure to call a time out by no means cost us the game. The Rangers are the second coming of Florida just with better goaltending/defense. They need PP's to score goals. If not for that PP it would have been 2-0 with an empty netter. Our PK needs to be better. The ONLY goals they scored in game 2 were PP's. This team needs PP goals to score, and we can't kill them off? They have 2 even strength non empty net goals in this series, and our PK sucks.

Our PP is a joke today which is no surprise as it was a lot of different parts of the season. They pissed away almost every opportunity. The last PP looked the best.

They probably think they showed good enough effort because they took 36 shots on net. That's the sad thing.

Poni, Bernier, Zubrus, Clarkson, Zajac, and even Parise are all capable of driving the net with power moves.

What penalty?

Oh, I remember now.

You must mean the "hooking" call that could be called 37 times per game, but isnt. No, I dont blame Salvador at all for that nonsense.

Sykora? You there? 5 out of 30 whatever of their shots on Hank were good. The rest were garbage imo.

We squandered so many odd man rushes. Lundqvist stoned us when we got in but there has to be better execution.

People are blaming Marty? What the hell man!?

Marty has been incredible which is what I'm worried about. He's due for a clunker game.

Agreed that both Elias and Sykora have looked terrible. I'd take Josefson in for Elias at this point.

This is like watching last year's finals. The Canucks won games, but when they lost, they lost BAD. Doesn't bode well for a 7-game series.

Gave up two goals following what I think was a coaching mistake. After the Rangers got their second they sat back extremely effectively. We were stuck on our half of the ice for a good five minutes.

You have to be good to get a shutout. Same with Marty. Am I gonna tell you he worked hard for his all of his 119, and 24 playoff shutouts? No.

36 shots on net? Lundqvist didn't even have to move for 18 of them.

I'm just afraid they probably think they did a good job cause they dominated puck posession, and shots on goal, and shots period.

The PK NEEDS to be better. This is Florida all over again. The Rangers have TWO non empty net even strength goals in this series. Both of their goals in game 2 were PP goals. If our PK is gonna suck then the PP needs to be better. They looked their worst on the PP today. A few good chances, but mostly pissed away.

Elias flubbed 1 or 2 scoring opportunities, passed when he should have shot, shot when he should have passed, was tentative, and had a few turnovers.

Elias was SO TERRIBLE today, he should be demoted to 3rd line or AT LEAST put on 2nd Powerplay and not 1st Powerplay.

A good coach like Tortarello would do that, but Pleasantville Pete DeBoer is such a "nice guy" that that wont happen.

Falling 2-1 isn't foreign to us
We just need to take advantage the next game. No one said it was gonna be quick and easy for either side.
