Wow, total deja vu from the Kentucky Derby. Great race, however noticeably slower.

Would've loved to be in the room with a bunch of the head honchos at Belmont today. They have to be beyond thrilled.

Great race. Daddy Nose Best didn't do as well as I had hoped

Still, good win for IHA

Lone speed this time on the front end. Was actually a bit faster than I thought it would be. Mike Smith got away with what he wanted, just got run down by a horse who is now indisputably a better horse.

Obviously, yes it is a great race. Even better when you consider how the race played out.

$2 exacta box and $2 trifecta combos paid off but minimally. Nice race. Good for the sport.

Just for kicks, Paul Reddam-Doug O'Neill-Mario Guiterrez take the last at Pimlico, too.

For a while, I thought NBC went to the ESPN School of Broadcasting referring to the jockey constantly by his first name throughout the show. He almost reached the pinnacle of such honors: Lebron/Kobe/Manny/Pedro, etc. territory.

That was awesome, a terrific run.

I'll Have Another is truly triple crown material. He has the breeding, and is a push button type, which is required to win the Belmont.
Hopefully this didn't take alot out of him.

Bodemeister is a talented horse for sure. Although we won't be seeing him for a while as he was exhausted pulling up.

Just watched the race, and wow. What an exciting finish. There was a moment where it looked like Bodemeister had started to pull away again and I thought it was over. But nope, I'll Have Another was not going to be denied.

Good for him, but I sense heartbreak in Belmont. Belmont's track is long and has ended hopes before. It's good to see a horse win the first two again, though. There hasn't been a contender for the Crown since Big Brown.

I dunno, a near 20 dollar exacta on the 2 horses pretty much everyone expected to finish 1-2 is pretty decent. Wish I had gotten to the track today instead of that ****ing awful ECF game

That said, I think the last time I yelled a TV that loudly for a horse in a race I had no money on was Zenyatta's Classic. I didn't think he was going to make it, but he had just enough track. Belmont is going to be interesting, this horse can do it that's for sure.

Didn't you say the same thing after the Derby about the Preakness?

I limited the tris, thankfully, because I had a temptation to do a 9/7/all, 7/9/all which I'm pretty sure would have resulted in a monetary loss despite the win. The exacta paid better than I expected. Overall, in recent years, the Preakness hasn't produced many shockers, not the level of Giacomo or Sarava. The finish to this year's Preakness reminded me of the stretch of Curlin-Street Sense but that was a loss for some of us.

^ There was a $116 winner at Belmont on Saturday. Exacta paid $546.

Street Brawl, a son to Street Sense, won over the weekend at Belmont with Rosie/Pletcher. His record is 2-for-2.

Quote:
4th-BEL, $77,000, Alw, Opt. Clm. ($75,000), NW1X, 3yo, 1 1/16m, 1:42, ft.
STREET BRAWL (c, 3, Street Sense--Regally Appealing {GSW, $296,925}, by Valid Appeal) was offered up at relatively generous 5-1 odds at first asking at Aqueduct Apr. 14, but rewarded those who backed him with a sharp score going 6 1/2 panels. Aiming to remain unbeaten in his first go at a route, the slight 8-5 choice was away alertly underneath Rosie Napravnik and set pressured :23.52 and :46.99 splits as Inflation Target (Tapit) pressed to his outside. Those two continued into the lane when a sharp left-handed crack by Napravnik prompted Street Brawl to veer out and knock Inflation Target. All parties quickly righted themselves, however, and Street Brawl cruised home 1 1/4 lengths clear as Inflation Target gave futile chase. Stewards look at the bumping incident but let the result stand. In the last 60 days, Napravnik has won aboard five of the 11 Todd Pletcher-trained horses she's ridden, according to brisnet.com stats. Sales history: $50,000 yrl '10 KEESEP; $380,000 2yo '11 OBSMAR. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0, $82,200

Desormeaux has been replaced on Dullahan for the Belmont. At last check, Castellano is the leading jockey by earnings this season. Dullahan could be a spoiler.

http://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/members/index.cfm

Quote:
Kent Desormeaux has been replaced by Javier Castellano as Dullahan (Even The Score)'s jockey in the Belmont Stakes, according to Jerry Crawford, President of Donegal Racing. Desormeaux failed a breathalyzer test at Belmont Park on Friday, losing his ride aboard Preakness entrant Tiger Walk (Tale of the Cat).
