Why does everyone want Malkin replaced? Prust should sit. Dubi should be replacing him. Malkin has had a great postseason, really.
Prust is a big part of the PK, while Mitchell barely plays. I too think he's been very useful so far in the playoffs. When Dubi plays, I think Rupp is going to get a game off to see what Dubi can bring to the team.
Was skating at the optional this morning, sans the non-contact sweater. So he should be back in the next game or two.
so he's in a non-contact sweater and skating the last couple of days. but when he's off ice, he's still limping around because of the ankle? i'm guessing it's one those things where the ankle feels Ok once it's in the skate?

"Sans" means "without." Also, bear in mind that it's the Eastern Conference Finals. I imagine half the guys who haven't missed a game are limping around off the ice. He'll heal as much as he needs to to get back on the ice. He can heal the rest of the way when the season is over.
You think they put him in the regular jersey because of the looming suspension to Prust? Had Prust had no hearing, would he still be in a non-contact jersey?
I hope they are not rushing him because of there being a less than desirable replacement out there.
If Dubi is healthy he goes in for Rupp. If Prust gets a game he takes his place then Rupp sits when Prust comes back. Mitchel has been solid, and has been better than Rupp this series. Zucc might help our PP, but this series the PP has not been our problem. In a series like this Malkin brings more than Zucc.
I doubt if you will see Rupp sit. He's been getting some third line time because he plays strong along the walls. That's been a big problem area for the Rangers in this series. Not sure who sits. Anisimov?
how about dressing five defensemen? the sixth defenseman these days is only seeing a few mins of icetime. might be more useful to just punt that slot and have an extra forward.
of course, the rangers wouldn't do that. but just for conversation's sake.

And if someone gets hurt? Rotating 4 D almost cost them in the 3 OT game when Girardi couldn't go out there when he got cut. Have to dress 6 defense, especially in a physical series like this.

oops, thats what i meant.....he practiced in a normal contact Jersey but still limping around. Guess it's not any different than the other guys who have ailing injuries and playing through it
Just because there haven't been any fights doesn't mean you don't need Rupp. He is a better asset than Mitchell. He is more physical and provides a bigger frame to wear down bodies along the boards. Mitchell has improved during the playoffs but we can do without him. Faceoff wise we have been pretty good since the ottawa series. Better in this one than the washington one. And I do believe this series will get even more physical. You saw more headshots last game on both sides.
Dubinsky would be a HUGE addition to this team, just in being an upgrade over Mitchell.
Good at faceoffs, throws the body, grinds, kills penalties.
Extremely overpaid, but a strong 3rd liner for us.
Except for kills penalties - you described Mitchell's game to a t. What makes Dubi - a top six player better than Mitchell - a forth liner is not this.
Johnny Malkin sits in favor of Dubinsky and if Prust is Shanabanned, then Zuccarello takes his place.
If Dubi is available to replace Prust or otherwise - we won't see Zuke unless we are down in this series. Zuke's biggest contribution to the team is on the PP, and it's been working thus far without him.

Easy. Mitchell "grinds" to an extent. And he "tries" to throw his body around. There are times where he doesn't finish his check. He is simply not that physical. He is willing to battle along the boards but for the most part he either loses them or he will win the puck battle and then turn the puck over because he worn down from the board battle. He is not that strong. It is not his fault but it is what it is. His faceoff ability is his strength but like I said I don't think that is an area we have to worry about as much with the Devils.
Rather the veteran Rupp. Rupp has gotten some good scoring chances from being in good position. He goes to the net more, hits more and harder, and it has been made clear this year that opposing players are afraid of him. He doesn't need to fight. You haven't seen really anyone take liberties at the rangers and its because they'd have to answer to Rupp. I strongly believe that. He had Del Zotto's back in florida, dropping Kopecky. He was there all year when the flyers and devils tried to goon it up against our young team. He set the tone during the year that it isn't going to work that way. He needs to be out there. But not just for protection. You watch 24/7, you listen to the way torts has talked about him...he has a lockerroom presence. He won't sit.
