Half points don't fix anything. It's the exact same as 10-9 except you're needlessly changing the numbering system.

If 10-9 was used more properly it would be a start. 10-8 and 10-7 should be used much more liberally if someone gets a deep submission attempt or scores a knockdown.

For example, I would score the fourth round of Thomson/Melendez a 10-8 because Josh got a dominant backmount position and almost had a close rear naked choke. There is no way that should be scored the same as the 2nd round where not much happened and Gilbert got the 10-9 because he landed a few more jabs.
